Scutellaria baicalensis Geogi,as one of the important herbal medicines in China, is more and more needed all over the world with confirmation of efficient components and structures, and the study of cure mechanism as well as affirmation of cure effects on various diseases. S. baicalensis grows well in the mountains region in south of Shaanxi Province, as the result of plantation of herbal medicines, it has been the main economically crop in Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province. However, with entensive manual cultivation of S. baicalensis , many pests and diseases which does not exist in wildness take place seriously, it has been the crucial problem of mass production of S. baicalensis. It is becoming urgent to control diseases on S. baicalensis .This experiment mainly studied the diseases of S. baicalensis in Shangluo City. The results are as follows:1. Through the investigation of disease of S. baicalensis in Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province, it was found that root rot, root-knot nematode, powdery mildew, stem blot existed, Particularly stem blot,which pathology is unknown. The incidence of disease is more than 20%, which inhibited the production of S. baicalensis.2. The stem blot of S. baicalensis is symptomized blot, and the tender stalks were affected easily. at first, the small spot on the surface of stalk can be saw, and it gradually extending to be the dark brown ellipse or strip spot with pink-like macula dispersed. The macula spreads all over the stalk, and make the stalk break easily or cause blot eventually. Through isolating the pathogen, identifying, inoculation and reseparating and re inoculation, the results show that the pathogen of S. baicalensis stem blot is Phoma asparage Sacc, Sphaeropsidales, Fungi Imperfecti. according to the symptom, cultivating characters, pycnidium, shape and size of conidia.3. The corrolation between cultivation and diseases-controlling was studied , the results indicate that the 25 cm×10 cm cultivation model was good. To increase phosphorous and kalium can strengthen the S. baicalensis Geogi. The influence of micro-environment is not distinct.4. Fungicides were screen-tested in lab. The results indicate that 80% ethylicin, 70%mancoze, 10 % polytoxin, 20%kangkuning could restrain Phoma asparage...
