Industrialization of Chinese gooseberry developed rapidly in recent years in Xinyang. But the single specie and less developed non-pollution cultivation resulted in the relatively lower economic benefits in the area. This paper preliminarily analyzed the possible combination of introduction, non-pollution cultivation and effects on the fruit quality of Chinese gooseberry with the local conditions in Xinyang. The continuous 6 years' results of experimental observation of growth, fruiting, stress resistance, and pruning effects et al. in six introduced cultivars indicated that all of them can grow and develop normally, and possess a relatively high ability for branching and fruiting and high tolerance to high temperature and drought, so they could well keep their intrinsic properties. Three cultivars among them such as Kuimi, Wuzhi No3, and Haiwode showed the properties of strong growth potential and fruiting earlier, and better adaptation to the local conditions. The fruit weight per plant after 4 years' cultivation reached 14.3kg to 18.1kg and 19.6kg, so the three cultivars could be widely extended in the local area as good quality cultivars. The evaluations of fruit quality of different cultivars were also done based on the Selection Model established by our research group. According to the index of reasonableness—satisfaction based on the single fruit weight, flesh percentage, and the content of total sugar, total acid, reductive sugar, vitamin C, protein and organic acid etal. Wuzhi No3, Kuimi, and Haiwode were recognized as good quality cultivars. The complex ecological system and advanced non-pollution cultivation were established after the comparison between fruit yield, quality, economical benefits, and cultivation. The results indicated that the key factors for lower cost and high output non-pollution cultivation of Chinese gooseberry in mountainous areas are as follows: careful selection of plantation garden, reasonable cultivation, and protection of disease and pests in time.
