Comparative Studies On The Botanical Character And The Composition Of Essential Oil From Lavender For Essential Oil And For Ornamental

Lavander had been extensively used for essential oil and for ornamental in produce now,traditional lavander taxonomy mainly based on some botanical character,such as leaf and flower of plant.At present,in actual application of lavander,the traditional lavander taxonomy couldn't meet with lavander's utilization,that the concept of lavander puzzled in market.Our research set up new lavender categorization which was from traditional lavander taxonomy ,to composition of fragrance ,to molecular level,categorized two lavenders,one was lavander for essential oil ,another was lavander for ornamental,which based on traditional lavander taxonomy and lavander's utilization. The botanical character ,contens and compositions of essential oil in the flower, DNA polymorphism and tissue culture and rapid propagation were analyzed and compared,which offered basis for new categorization in theory.Then two kinds of lavander were classified,the concept of lavander was cleared and scientific basis was applied for different using of lavander.In the botanical character,the character of lavender for essential oil was that the length of spike was longer, the flowering period was shorter than lavender for ornamental and so on,which was accorded with cultivated demand of lavander for essential oil ,then,the character of lavender for ornamental was that the length of spike was shorter, the flowering period was longer than lavender for essential oil and so on,which was accorded with cultivated demand of lavander for ornamental.Compared with contens and compositions of essential oil in two kinds of lavander:lavander for essential oil and for ornamental,in the previous kind of lavender the content of essential oil was higher than in the latter,the content of essential oil in the previous was more than 1.35 ml/100g.wt,and in the latter was less than 0.71ml/100g.wt.As one of lavander for essential oil, appearance, color and luster, fragrance, relative dentity, dioptric rate and rotation of Munstead lavander conformed to international standard. In lavender for essential oil, the main components were linalool, linalyl acetate and 1,8-cineole,but in lavender for ornamental the major compounds were fenchanone,camphor and linmonene .In the research of polymorphic DNAs ,10 different genotypes of lavender totally produced 312 DNA fragments ranging between 0.1kb and 2.0kb,and of these fragments, polymorphic bands numbered 309 and accounted for 99.38%.The kinds of lavander clusted based on lavender for essential oil and for ornamental which had genetic difference in RAPD.
