Shanghai JD-1 Zoysia, a new variety found by Center for Turfgrass Science of Shanghai Jiaotong University, was selected as the research object. Stressed by foot traffic, variation of several morphological and physiological indices and phenotypic traits were measured under different traffic stress, which were control (CK), light traffic (LT), medium traffic (MT), heavy traffic (HT). A proper traffic intensity was explored for Zoysia public turf. And a experiment was conducted to examine the response of the wear resistance of Shanghai JD-1 Zoysia to compound fertilizer under traffic stress, which was made by traffic machine. Research results were as follow:1 Effects of traffic stress on growth and physiology of Shanghai JD-1 Zoysia1.1 Under different traffic stress, growth and phenotypic of Shanghai JD-1 Zoysia decreased differently. As the traffic period prolonged, shoot height, leaf length, density, above ground biomass and green leaf rate under heavy traffic treatment (HT) were lower than those under CK and light traffic treatment(LT) significantly(P<0.05), while there were no significant differences between light and medium traffic stress.1.2 The content of proline and MDA in leaves increased significantly under HT and MT than those under CK.
