In fish, the growth differences between male and female were found. The body weights of female common carp were higher than that of male about 30% in the two years of age in the same waters. If all-female populations were cultured, its growth rate should be higher than mixture population at least 10%.In order to establish the breeding technique of all-female Jian carp, Cyprinus carpio var. jian, gynogenesis and sex reversal of Jian carp were studied. The sperms from red goldfish, Carassius auratus var. red, were inactivated by UV-ray (30W, 8.5cm, 15min), and the eggs from Jian carp were fertilized by the inactivated sperms of red goldfish. Some fingerlings were obtained from the gynogenesis. When they grew into 1-1.5cm in body length, feed them with feedstuffs supplemented 50ppm 17α-methyltestosterone. The fish originated from gynogenesis were identified by morphological, RAPD and DNA content analysis.Through optimizing the related parameters and conditions, the success rate of gynogenesis and sex reversal were 23% and 75% respectively. The breeding technique of all-female Jian Carp was established by a combination gynogenesis and sex reversal.
