It has been more than ten years since the first nature small protected-area appeared in our country. The total number of nature small protected-areas was 49109 by the end of 2004.The total area was 10604800hm2 and the ratio of it to the total country's area was about 1.1%. Although the nature small protected-areas had been the important entities of biodiversity conservation and even the only entities, very little systematic research on them has been reported by now. There are no accordant and applicable rules or statutes about construction and administration of them at country's level. At most areas, there is no other excess subsidy but compensation in terms of ecological public-welfare forest. This situation would be deleterious to their long-time sustaining development. This paper was based on the construction and administration of some nature small protected-areas in counties of Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces of southern China. The author collected the relevant data by interview and investigation. First of all, the relationship between present nature small protected-areas in the surveyed areas and local population, economic condition and nature resource was analyzed. Secondly, the size characteristics of nature small protected-areas were analyzed as a whole, every type and each level respectively. By taking the IUCN Protected area categories as reference, the author has proposed one classification way including the first standard on the base of administration objects and the second standard on the base of characteristics of conservation objects. One primary evaluation for deciding which one should be funded by country or government was given. GIS was used to analyze the spatial pattern of present biodiversity conservation network comprised of reserves, small protected-areas and ecological public-welfare forests of Mingxi County Fujian province. It indicated that numerous and separate small protected-areas and ecological public-welfare forests can improve the links between the conservation entities in whole county area. By grey incidence analysis, we analyzed several potential factors affecting the plant-diversity of small protected-areas and found that the shape was the most influential factor. At last, we surveyed and analyzed one Amentotaxus argotaenia population of its growth and regeneration status which distributes on only about 0.067 hm2 area. The result indicated...
