Soil parameter monitoring system is one of the basic research contents of the Digital Agriculture Platform, and it is also the basis of the following research of the Digital Agriculture Platform. Many kinds of soil parameter monitoring systems have been developed in China. However, most of them monitor one parameter only and can not acquire several parameters synchronously. Moreover mostly systems can not deal with the data detailedly, so the users can not know the soil information directly and clearly. Aiming at solving this problem, a multifunctional soil parameter monitoring system is developed on the basis of computer techniques, object oriented techniques and Windows communication techniques according to the requirement of Digital Agriculture Platform. This system can quickly monitor the soil parameters of appointed plot and realize soil parameter data gathering, saving and handling, which can provide referrence for agricultural precise seeding, fertilization and the irrigation.The whole scheme and function modules were analyzed and designed in this paper. This paper proposed the data acquisition method that combined data acquisition card and PLC serial communication technique. This system is easier to realize compared with commonly used upper PC and lower PLC configuration.This paper designed a needle sensor for soil moisture and temperature according to the system requests about soil parameters monitoring, and proposed the requisitions of other sensors needed by system. In accordance with the hardware jumper method of data acquisition card, a sensor junction board was manufactured. There are free pots on the board in which can setup sensors for increasing the number of monitored soil parameters, Then the system's monitoring function is perfected.The system software was developed using model analysis method as guiding ideology, which is easy to supplement functions with users or developer's understanding deeper and deeper. Based on the Delphi language platform, this paper devised an upper software system which realized data acquisition, serial communication and data handling.
