It has become an important way to develop water-saving agriculture and increase Water Use Efficiency (WUE) for sustainable development of agriculture in arid and semi-arid area. Application of Aquasorb has become the important technique of chemical saving water, drought resistance and raising yields in recent years. At present the promotion of Aquasorb-applying in agriculture is restricted since the application methods are not real correct and the action mechanisms are understand . Based on the existent key problems , such as serious drought and low yield of potato planting in arid mountain area of southern Ningxia, it used pot and field plot experiments to compare the optimal application period and the way, to analyze the effect and action mechanisms of aquasorb on growth, physiology, yields and Water Use Efficiency (WUE). The experiments were done in Wangwa Water Conservation Experiment Site, Pengyang, Ningxia. The major results were as followings:1. With the different ways of Aquasorb-applying (upper-use, lower-use, side-use and all-use) and two kinds of supplying-water (sufficient water and low water) in soil, the simulated pot experiment was conducted. The results demonstrated that the different ways of Aquasorb-applying could enhance plant height except for upper-use, yield and WUE of potato under sufficient water condition. The most notable impact was side-use of Aquasorb in soil because the yields and WUE of potato were promoted by 39.4% and 58.79% respectively. Aquasorb-applying could promote leaf area remarkably under lower water condition. Lower-use, side-use and all-use could promote yields of potato by 16.6%, 21.5% and 15.4% respectively, WUE of potato by 54.73%, 59.46% and 56.76% respectively under low water condition. Lower-use and side-use could enhance yields and WUE of potato remarkably under low water condition, and the effects of side-use on that were remarkable under sufficient water condition.2. From experiment results, the important reasons of yields and WUE of potato promoted were mainly that lower-use and side-use formed the evident soil water environment... |
