Zearalenone (ZEN) is a estrogenic mycotoxin produced by numerous Fusarium species. Its toxicological risks for human and animals can arise from direct contamination of grains, such as wheat, barley, oats, and maize, and processed commercial feed. Because of its toxicity effects on the reproductive and upgrowth system, immunity system and tumour, ZEN is potentially harmful to both animals and humans. Yeast glucan is one of the main components of Yeast cell wall. It shows many biological activities, such as immunomodulation, antitumor, antivirus, binding certain pathogens and their toxin etc. In this paper the systematic and explorative studies on adsorptive properties ofβ-D-glucans from spent brewer's yeast and crosslinking-carboxymethyl double modified glucan(CCMG)toward ZEN were carried out.A method for the determination of Zearalenone (ZEA) by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) was established. The optimum of determination conditions were obtained. It showed that the method was simple, sensitive, reliable and reproductive. Its recovery was from 92.52%~97.71%. Coefficient of Variation was 1.14 %.β-D-glucans were extracted from the cell wall of spent brewer yeast with alkali, acid -alkali and enzyme-alkali method, respectively. The basic components of the three different extracted products were analyzed. Paper chromatography and IR spectrum analysis showed that D-mannose was not found in all of them. The adsorptive properties ofβ-D-glucans on Zearalenone(ZEA) were determined by HPLC. It was indicated that the absorptive capacity was different toβ-D-glucans with different extracting methods.β-D-glucans obtained by enzyme-alkali method showed a relatively high adsorption capacity for ZEA with a maximum adsorption of up to 2.296μg /mg glucan.Crosslinking-carboxymethyl double modified gluca(nCCMG)was prepared by theβ-D-glucans obtained by enzyme-alkali method with the reaction of chloroacetic acid...
