Glutenin macropolymer(GMP) consists of high molecular weight glutenin subunits(HMW-GS) linked with low molecular weight glutenin subunits via disulphide bonds. HMW-GS could play key roles in determining industrial quality of wheat grain. Composition and amount of HMW-GS in different wheat varieties were different, which present inheritance stabilization. But content of HMW-GS was effected environment. Composition of HMW-GS had been widely studied. To date, however, knowledge involved content of HMW-GS is limited, besides impacts of environmental factors and cultivation practice on accumulation of HMW-GS.In the present study, different wheat varieties were grown at different cultivation (nitrogen, water stresses, shading) to study the regulatory efforts of high molecular weight glutenin subunits (HMW-GS) and glutenin macropolymer(GMP), and cultivation practices on content and accumulation of HMW-GS and GMP. The results should help clarify HMW-GS and GMP accumulation mechanism and provide regulatory approaches for super quality wheat. Total three experiment were establish as:Experiment 1:The aim of this experiment was study nitrogen rate effects on content of HMW-GS and GMP. Field experiment was conducted at the experimental station of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanjing (118°42'E, 32°30'N) Jiangsu Province, P. R. China. Two winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties were selected, i.e. Xuzhou 26 with high grain protein content and strong gluten, and Ningmai 9 with low grain protein content and weak gluten. Total five nitrogen rate treatments were established as 0, 75, 150, 225 and 300 kg ha-1.Ratios of basal to topdressing N were designed as 6:4.Experiment 2: The aim of this experiment was study water stress effects on content of HMW-GS and GMP. Two wheat varieties as Yumai 34 and Ningmai 9 were grown in cement boxes in Nanjing Agricultural University in the 2004-2005 season. Three water treatment were established from 5 days after anthesis to maturity, i.e. waterlogging,...
