Humic acid and super absorbent polymer have wide application in agriculture. In ordor to improve the arid situation in northern China, humic acid was first extracted from weathering coal, then it was polymerized with crylic, and a high water-absorbent resin of potassium polyacrylate and humic acid (PKA/HA) was prepared for the first time. An arts and crafts process of low energy consumed, low cost and strong maneuverability was explored. And combined with the experiences of scientists before, the mechanism of absorbable and keeped water of super absorbent polymer was further studied.Therefore, the extraction of humic acid, the rule of the polymerization by potassium persulfate as the initiator to initiate the acrylic acid and humic acid was studied, and modification was made to the conventional aqueous solution co-polymerization, and the best reaction conditions were settled through large numbers of experiments. The best extraction conditions of humic acid are as follows: reaction temperature 90℃, reaction time 60min, NaOH is used at concentration of 1.5wt%, or 2wt% NaOH and Na2CO3 (the ratio of NaOH and Na2CO3 is 1:1),and the extraction rate is more then 75%. When reaction temperature 80℃, the mol ratio of crosslinking agent, initiator and KOH to acrylic acid is 0.0005, 0.0075, 0.70, the water absorbency of PKA/HA is the best, more then 750g/g for distilled water.In ordor to review the virtue of PKA/HA, its absorbable and keeped water capacity, the rate and the times of absorbable water was studied. The results showed that the absorbable and keeped water capacity was strong, the saturation time of absorbable water was short, and the rate of repeat utilize was high, so it had a wide prosperity of market.
