Antibiotic is one kind of the drugs which were widely used as main measure to control infective illness, but drug resistance and residues in vivo hasn't been solved until now. The using of antibiotics will waste medical resource, increase the susceptibility of antibiotic resistance and also bring great damage to society. The Chinese herbal medicine was focused by its merit: little the poisonous side effect, no drug resistance, little residues, and so on. With the rapid developing of molecular pharmacology, quantum pharmacology, ionic channel pharmacology, gene pharmacology, enzyme pharmacology, and the Chinese herb medicine composing, effect of medicine, mechanism of preventing and treating have been further conducted, which provided the reliable theory to develop green feed additive and produce green food. The Chinese herbal medicine is rich in manifold nutrients, trace elements and active substances and is a new additive for animal feeds. The Chinese herbal medicine additive can not only take effects of attraction of animals, but also improve phylactic power, prevent and cure many diseases of animals. It will be a bright future as a feed additive. In order to develop a new type of Chinese herbal medicinal additive for preventing diseases and promoting growth of chicken, 4 compound prescriptions were prepared depending on different principle. The weight-gain of chicken was compared in 3 batches of animal experiments by monitoring day weighting, surviving rate of chicken, net income, NDV valence of antibody. The results showed that prescription 4, composed of astragalus root, epimedium, hawthorn fruit and so on, could replenish Qi, improve digestion, regulate blood and promote Yang, which presented best efficacy and was superior to the antibiotic. The serum biochemical index and microelement content were monitored also, after the experimentation of growth-promoting performance of traditional Chinese herbal medicine additive. The result showed that, recipe 4 could raise the concentration of serum total protein, serum albumin and globulin, raise the activity of serum metabolic enzymes, raise the concentration of blood Ca, P and Se, decrease the cholesterol content. These showed that recipe 4 can improve body immunity, enhance metabolic lever, boost the use and aggradation of mineral substance, soup the efficiency of nutritive material using. Recipe 4 can be developed to Chinese herbal medicinal additive.
