Pseudorabies(PR) has been a serious disease problem and caused considerableeconomic losses in porcine industry in the world. PR could be easily found in pigs ofFujian province and became one of the factors that slow down the porcine industry. In this study, 2474 serum samples were collected from 212 pig farms from cities ofFuzhou, Ningde, Putian, Quanzhou, Longyan, Sanming and Nanping of Fujian province. The antibodies of these samples were detected by LAT, and the results showed that 1543samples were positive, the positive rate was 62.37%, and the rates of immunized pigsand non-immunized pigs were 66.42% and 11.05%, respectively. While the rates innon-immunized pigs that raised in scale house and in free-range were 26.67%and 5.88%,and the rates were 50% and 46.67% of samples that collected from two non-immunizedhoused pig groups of Fuzhou and Longyan city, respectively. At the same time, 909 specimens from 182 pig farms from above cities weresampled for PR virus identification by PCR assay, and 191 samples from 42 farms weretested positive in PCR assay, the positive rates of pig farms and specimens were 23.08%and 21.01%, respectively. And the results showed that morbidity of PR was high and thepositive rate was 23.66% during the time of December and the next March, while therate during the time of April and May was second to it, and was the least from June toNovember. The results also showed that number of specimens from starter pigs, growing pigs, finishers and breeding flocks decreased in order, and the positive rate ofspecimens from starter pigs was 23.68%, which was higher than those of growing pigs, finishers and breeding flocks. When the positive samples that identified by PCR weresubjected to detection of CSFV, PRRSV and PCV-2, it showed that many of the pigsthat have been infected with viruses other than PRV, such as the above viruses. The detection of specimens by LAT and PCR assay in this study showed that PRVwas endemic and unique in the pig groups in Fujian province, and there was a tendencyof single infection turned into multi-infection. The occurrence of PR was related to theclimate. It was the coldest weather during the time of December and the next March, and we can observe many cases of PR in the fields. PR can cause the most seriousdisease in starter pigs and growing pigs, so it was of much importance to protect themagainst the disease. And the surveillance of sows was important for the reason of PR cancause reproductive failures in them. Good management, vaccination combined withsurveillance will be useful for all farms to reduce the morbidity.
