Labrador retrievers, having excellent ancestry, originated from Newfinland islands in Canada, were taken by England merchants to England in late eighteenth century. Basing on outstanding behaves in smell, occupancy ability and resistance, this kind of dog is serving in many professions such as searching for drugs, searching for detonators, rescue, guard, fire protection and qua seeing eye dog.Loss of function in pallium causes canine epilepsy, involving handicaps in movement, sence, consciousness and autonomic nerves, with the characteristics of sudden and recurrent onset. Recently, the incidence of canine epilepsy is raising in introducing dogs.Onset of canine epilepsy is related to the changes of biochemical matters in organism, especially involving ALP, Ca2+, Mg2+, GLU and BGP .The levels of these biochemical matters named epilepsy associated haemal biochemical indexes. It is reported that over 90% epilepsy dogs have abnormal blood biochemical index. Several Labrador retrievers in Nanjing Police Dog Research Institution of Police Ministry appeared similar EPM2-type epilepsy symptom. For the purpose of finding the differences between epilepsy dogs and normal ones, we tested twentyone blood biochemical indexes of most introducing Labrador retrievers in Nanjing Police Dog Research Institution of Police Ministry , involving ALP, Ca2+, Mg2+, GLU and BGP , than analysised data via statistics. The result showed that serum ALP, Ca2+, Mg2+, GLU and BGP levels were lower in epilepsy dogs.On the contrary, serum CK level was higher in epilepsy dogs. The differences were obvious. The differences of other 15 serum biochemical indexes were not obvious.
