Poplar is a kind of excellent trees which possesses of good adaptability, high yield, fine timber quality and many other purposes, would be used in industry, windbreak and ecology with perfect economic, social and ecological value. However, some poplar artificial forests of northeast local areas have suffered from Xylotrechus rusticus L., which is a kind of bark pests with danger and fatalness once it outbreak. This experiment extracted ten kinds of poplar bark volatiles of different resistant levels, P.×xiaozhuanica W. Y. Hsu et Liang cv. 'Baicheng-2', P. simonii Carr.×p. nigra L., P. russkii Jabl., P. berolinensis Dipp., P. pseudo-simonii Kitag., P. pseudo-simonii Kitag.×p. nigra L., P. ussuriensis Kom., P. stalintz Jabl., P. alba L.×p. berolinensis Dipp. and P. simonii Carr., using steam distillation, supersonic extraction and CO2 supercritical fluid extraction (SFE-CO2) respectively; Optimized the method of SFE-CO2 to extract the bark essential oil of P. simonii Carr.; Analyzed the essential oil qualitatively and quantitatively with GC-MS; Took bio-assaies on male and female adults of Xylotrechus rusticus L. with extraction solution and wood slashings, ascertained the active chemicals firstly and establish the theory for Xylotrechus rusticus L. control with chemical ecology methods, provided referenced value for other poplar pests measurement.Extraction solution yields of ten kinds of poplar barks with steam distillation were lower lightly than ultrasonic extraction method except P. simonii Carr.×p. nigra L., P. russkii Jabl. and P. alba L.×p. berolinensis Dipp., otherwise, CO2 supercritical fluid extraction yield was higher significantly than the other two extraction methods. The best extraction conditions of P. simonii Carr. bark essential oil with SFE-CO2 were: pressure with 25Mpa, temperature with 50℃and time with 60min. GC-MS analysis showed that, all of ten kinds of poplar barks extraction solutions had hexanal, salicylaldehyde, tetradecanal, hexadecanal, 2,6-ditertbutyl-4methyl phenol, linoleic acid, hexadecanoic acid and 11,14,17-eicosatrienoic acid, methyl ester.Observations on behavioral responses of adults to steam distillation solutions with 100gE and different doses (5μl, 20μl, 60μl, 90μl, 120μl, 150μl and 180μl) using Y-tube olfactometer indicated that, the trend curve of P. russkii Jabl. and P. berolinensis Dipp. both fall off first, ascend afterward, and then decreasetto became calm; The tendency effect of P. stalintz Jabl. and P. alba L.×p. berolinensis Dipp. were both weakened with dose increased; The tendency curve of P.×xiaozhuanica W. Y. Hsu et Liang cv. 'Baicheng-2' to male adults presented "S", female adults presented augment gently; The trend curves of P. simonii Carr.×p. nigra L. and P. ussuriensis Kom. showed irregular; The trend curves of P. pseudo-simonii Kitag., P. pseudo-simonii Kitag.×p. nigra L. and P. simonii Carr. took on converse "V"; Besides, the adults have maximal tendency ratios to the extraction solutions of P. pseudo-simonii Kitag. (90μl), P. ussuriensis Kom. (60μl)ánd P. simonii Carr. (90μl): 70.83% and have minimum tendency ratios to P. russkii Jabl.(120μl) and P. pseudo-simonii Kitag. (180μl): 29.17%.Observations on behavioral responses of adults to ultrasonic extraction solutions with 100gE and 100μl using Y-tube olfactometer indicated that, the male adults showed tendency to P. simonii Cart.×P. nigra L., P. stalintz Jabl. and P. alba L.×P. berolinensis Dipp.; The specieses of P. simonii Carr.×P. nigra L., P. berolinensis Dipp., P. pseudo-simonii Kitag., P. pseudo-simonii Kitag.×P. nigra L. and P. simonii Carr. had some tendency effects to female aduluts. SFE-CO2 solutions had nothing or little tendency to adults.Tests on bioactivities of steam distillation solutions to adults using wind tunnel showed that, P. simonii Carr.×P. nigra L., P. pseudo-simonii Kitag. and P. simonii Carr. had larger tendency activities to adults; Otherwise, the tendency effects of males to P. ussuriensis Kom. and the effects of females to P. russkii Jabl., P. berolinensis Dipp., P. pseudo-simonii Kitag.×P. nigra L. and P. stalintz Jabl. were lager too. The behavioral responses of adults to 20g poplar wood slashings using wind tunnel showed that, the spesieses and tendency ratios were both fewer than 200μl steam distillation solutions. The tendency ratios of Xylotrechus rusticus L. to ten kinds of poplar bark essential oil using three extract methods had little difference.
