Polar is an important forest of virescence.Because its high yield, fine timber quality and many other purposes, would uses widely in industrial forest of timber, shelter belt of cropland and shelter belt of ecology. However,it suffered seriously infraction in northeast China during the recent years by Xylotrechus rusticus Linnaeus which is the main bristletail eating the bole of polar. The damaged area and the extant of injury is expanding year by year. Therefore, search an effective measure of prevention and cure to Xylotrechus rusticus L.is needed peremptorily. The research have done by HPLC in order to mensurating the kind and the content of phenolic acids in P.Baicheng - 2',P.×xiaohei T.S.Hwang et Liang,P.russkii Jabl, P.berolinensis Dipp,P.pseudo-simonii Kitag,P.pseudo-simonii×p.nigra,P.ussuriensis Kom.,P.stalintz Jabl,P.salba×P.berolinensis,P.simonii Carr in their xylem and phloem. Then feed the larva of Xylotrechus rusticus L.with having added nine kinds of phenolic acids according to the result of mensuration that can observe the larva's change of their weight. The final mensuration takes the change condition of the larvase's four kinds of enzymatic vigour(POD,SOD,GSH-ST and TChE) after they had eaten out the feed which contained different kinds of phenolic acids. The purpose of the experiment is to find out one kind or several kinds of phenolic acids which restrain the growth of the Xylotrechus rusticus L. usefully. It can provide theoretic basis in preventing and curing the Xylotrechus rusticus L.by chemical ecology methods;it also provide theoretic support in breeding the resistance poplars. The result of the experiments shows:xylem and phloem in ten strains of poplars contain various phenolic acids without exception. And,the content of per kind phenolic acids are also different to some extent in different strains of poplars,P.×xiaohei T.S.Hwang et Liang,P. ussuriensis Kom.,P.berolinensis Dipp.have the most kinds and content of phenolic acids and P.russkii Jabl.has the fewest.Direction compares every strains of poplars' xylem with phloem, the kinds and content of phenolic acids in phloem are more than xylem.By variance analysis, there is different significant level of the content of each phenolic acid in different strains poplar, the content of phenolic acids of xylem and phloem in ten strains of poplars distinguish extremely significant. In the experiment of using different phenolic extract to feed Xylotrechus rusticus L.'s larvaes, chlorogenic acid, syringic acid and caffeic acid had restrained the larvase's growth fairly good, the growth condition of the larvase who had eaten these three kinds of phenolic acids(average growth rate of weight was 2.8%) were obviously lower than the contrasting group(average growth rate of weight was 9%);though feruic acid, cirmamic acid, benzoic acid, vanillic acid,p-coumaric acid and sylicylic acid had restrained the growth of the larvaes in a certain extent, their effect were limited(average growth rate of weight was 5.8%).After the larvase had eaten the feed with nine kinds of phenolic acids, the enzyme activity of POD,SOD,GSH-ST,TChE had no obviously change between the contrasting group.Except the benzoic acid, the other eight kinds of phenolic acids restrained the enzyme activity of TChE extremely remarkable;chlorogenic acid, syringic acid and caffeic acid also restrained the enzyme activity of POD and GSH-ST;but after the larvase had eaten the feed with phenolic acids, the enzyme activity of SOD had no obviously change or had a little expanding.
