| Precision Agriculture (PA) is known as precision farming, site-specific farming, information agriculture. On the basis of information technology, it is a new mode of modern agricultural production and management. The concept of PA is the production input of crop according to the management of field units, such as fertilizer, pesticide and seed etc. to decrease waste, promote benefits and protect environment. Therefore, PA is the tendency of agricultural development in the future and the main approach of sustainable development in agriculture.This thesis includes four aspects: the basic theories of PA, PA technical system, PA mode designing and many urgent problems of PA.First, PA basic theories: this charpter puts forward to the concept of the PA, summarizes the basic theory and technology of PA, and points out new PA structure as well as the basic mode of PA both at home and broad.Second, PA technical system: four parts in this chapter about PA technology are given: agricultural information collection, the management and analysis of agricultural information, both the analysis of agricultural decision and pratical approach of agricultural decision. It emphsizes on the application of hyperspectral remote sensing on agricultural information collection. Based on GIS technology, the agricultural decision-suport system(DSS) is built up. Precision fertilizing, precision irrigation, precision spraying pesticide, precision planting and yield moniting is realized.Third, PA mode designing: Jianghan plateau is used as a case study. A new mode of PA technology is designed. Moreover, under the condition of national policy and investment support, PA is realized with county and city as units, with the utilization of agricultural technian in the agricultual bureau, with the support of farmers.Fourth, many urgent problems of PA: there are mainly three problems: political policy, research issues and training issues. It focuses on reseach issues. At last, imperative issues in the next ten years are predicted.
