The Study On The Land Use And Land Cover Change Of The MaXian Mountain District

Land use and land cover change(LUCC) is one of the most important components and major causes to global environmental changes, and study on it has been the frontiers all the while after entering the new millennium. The study of LUCC include such three aspects: LUCC(?) inspecting, assessing and mapping by means of RS and GIS; the drive force and the drive mechanism of the LUCC; the relations betwen LUCC and the global climate change. At the region scale, the LUCC mappin will help the governer plan the land use better. With the use of TM imagerier of XingLong Mountain & MaXian Mountain in 1986 and 2001, we obtain the land use and land cover maps . From the coverages , we obtain that the area of natrral vegetation has decreased 1666.6 hm~2. We analysis the past 40 years air temperature data and the rain data and we find that the climate in this district is stable. Combined with the population in YuZhong country in the past years, we find that the population has increased from 359647 in 1980 to 425034 in 2000. So we draw the conclution that the main drive force of the LUCC in XingLong Mountain & MaXian Mountain is the population increase. And then we suggest that this district should be protected more strictly, or the (?) REEN ISLAND? on the loess plateau will disappear soon.
