The objectives of this work were to determine the development and dormacy characteristics of Pugionium cornutum (L.) Gaertn. seeds. The results showed:1.the development period of Pugionium cornutum (L.) Gaertn. seeds had 60 days and included three period that were embryo morphogenesis period (0~20 d after blossom),embryo ripeness period (20~44 d after blossom) and seed maturity period (45-60 d after blossom).2. Pugionium cornutum(L.) Gaertn. seeds'dormacy need some days when there were some chemicals: ABA and endogenous phenolic acid compounds can inhibit seeds'germination percentage in the fruit coat , seed coat and cotyledon.3. Different parts'seeds of Pugionium cornutum (L.) Gaertn. Had different development in germination percentage and weight: middle > top bottom seeds; first or second > third branch stem's seeds;4. Storage separating from plant and stay at the plant could promote the germination percentage samely;5. During seeds'dormacy period there were several treatment could increase the germination percentage and seeding growth, including stratification the seeds in 4℃for 12-48 h, dehydration treatment 1-3 times, and soaking in solution of 0.1-0.2% KMnO4, 100mmol/l K+, Ca2+, 50mmol/l Mn2+ and 50 mg/l GA;6. Treatment of 50mg/l GA could promote germination percentage and seeding growth of Pugionium cornutum (L.) Gaertn. at 25℃and 35℃comparing the CK, while the phenomenon did not happen at 15℃.
