The effects of nutrition levels and Galacto-mannan-oligosacharides (GMOS) onreproductive performance, milk composition, serum biochemical indices, serum hormonelevels and milk hormone levels were studied in Landrace×Yorkshire multiparous sows.A total of 24 healthy sow (Landrace×Yordshire,3~4 parity, near expected date of birth,near body condition) were randomly divided into four groups with six replicates, each ofwhich including one sow, in a 2×2 factorial experiment design. The four groups were fedwith high nutrition level (DE 14.23MJ/kg, CP 18.5%) diet with 0.15% GMOS, highnutrition level diet without GMOS, low nutrition level (DE 13.58MJ/kg, CP 17.5%) dietwith 0.15% GMOS, low nutrition level diet without GMOS, respectively. The resultsshowed that:(1) Reproductive performance: The addition of GMOS increased the weaning bodyweight of piglets by 9.82% (P=0.08), shortened the weaning-to-estrus interval by 3 days(P=0.06) and elevated the piglet livability during lactation by 4.55% (P>0.05). The highnutrition level could shortened the weaning-to-estrus interval by 3.2 days (P<0.05), butno differences (P>0.05) were observed in piglet body weight on day 12 and day 26, thepiglet livability during lactation. There were no interaction between nutrition levels andGMOS (P>0.05).(2) Milk yield and composition: Compared with the groups without GMOS, thedietary supplementation with.0.15% GMOS could increased (P=0.07) milk yield duringlactation by 22.96% and elevated (P=0.06) milk protein by 16.63%, but did not differ(P>0.05) in the percentage of fat, lactose, solids and non-fat-solids of milk. The highnutrition level could significantly increased (P<0.05) milk fat by 19.32% compared to thelow nutrition level, but did not differ (P>0.05) in the percentage of protein, lactose, solidsand non-fat-solids of milk. There were no interaction between nutrition levels and GMOS(P>0.05).(3) Milk Hormone levels: Compared with the groups without GMOS, the dietary supplementation with 0.15% GMOS could increased (P<0.05) the levels of interleukin-6(IL-6) (P<0.05), cortisol(CORT) (P<0.05), growth hormone(GH) (P<0.05) and tumornecrosis factor (TNF) (P>0.05) in skimmed milk, but no differences (P>0.05) in theconcentration of interleukin-2(IL-2), prolactin(PRL), Insulin(INS) and NPY. There wereno differences for the concentration of hormones in skimmed milk between the high andlow nutrition levels (P>0.05). There were no interaction between nutrition levels andGMOS (P>0.05).(4) Serum biochemical indices: Compared with the groups without GMOS, theaddition of GMOS could reduced the concentration of sow serum alaminetransaminase(ALT) on day 12 (P<0.05) and day 26 (P>0.05). Increasing the nutritionlevel, a decrease trend (P=0.1)was observed for the concentration of sow serumcholesterol (CHO) on day 19. There were a interaction between nutrition levels andGMOS for the concentration of sow serum aspartate transaminase (AST) on day 12(P<0.05) and serum triacylglycerol (TG) on day 26 (P=0.07). At the low nutrition level,the addition of GMOS could decreased the concentration of sow serum AST (P<0.05) onday 12 and sow serum TG (P=0.08) on day 26.(5) Serum hormone levels: The addition of 0.15% GMOS could reduced theconcentration of sow serum INS on day 12 (P=0.1) and 26 (P<0.05), respectively.Compared with the low nutrition level, the high nutrition level could significantlydecreased (P<0.05) the concentration of sow serum PRL on day 19. The interactionbetween nutrition levels and GMOS occurred in the concentration of GH (P<0.05), IL-2(P<0.05), Free triiodothyronine (FT3) (P=0.08) on day 19 and IL-2 (P=0.09) on day 26.
