The experimentation tries to introduce the process of pinching to FrenchMarigolds, in the meanwhile, it applies some plant growth retardants such asChlormequat Chloride (CCC) and Paclobutrazol (PP(333)) to this process, andaccordingly deals with some comparative researches on the structural, physiologicaland botanical varieties of French Marigolds, in order to advance certain relativelyideal ways for dwarfing production of French Marigolds. The main findings of thisexperimentation are as follows:1. Firstly, pinching, the plants growth retardant Paclobutrazol (PP333) andChlormequat Chloride (CCC) can all reduce the height of potted French Marigolds. Incomparison, spraying CCC on French Marigolds has more evident effect than usingPP333 in dwarfing. As the concentration is getting higher, the dwarfing effect becomesmore intensifying and obvious when French Marigolds is involved with such aprocessing. However, the medical harm would occur if the concentration of CCCslightly higher than expected, while it only appears when the concentration of PP333 ishigh. As a result, PP333 is much more applicable for the dwarfing processing of FrenchMarigolds comparing with CCC. The optimal and ornamental effect comes out underthe circumstances of using PP333 (C2 Processing), which is of the proportion of300mg/L.2. In average, pinching and spraying PP(3330 and CCC prolong the total bearingperiod of French Marigolds, and the prolonged days differ due to varieties ofprocessing. If French Marigolds goes through two pinching processing, the prolongeddays may exceed 36 days by comparison.3. Secondly, pinching and spraying PP333 and CCC are provided with thefunctions of restraining planting and retarding florescence. The compared FrenchMarigolds processed with plant growth retardant PP333 and CCC all have differentprolonged florescence to some extent, and the prolonged days increase as themedicament concentration goes up. During the process, the florescence prolongs moreobservably by using medicament than pinching.4. Last but not least, pinching processing reduces the content of chlorophyll inFrench Marigolds, decreases the activity of CAT and boosts up the activity of SOD inthe organism of leaf, and the activity of POD would gradually depress as the numberof pinching increases accordingly; on the other hand, spraying PP333 and CCC onFrench Marigolds can increase its content of chlorophyll, improve the activity of CAT,boost the activity of SOD in the organism of leaf, and thereby heighten the activity ofPOD.5. Based on the statistics of various physiological indexes, we can reach aconclusion that pinching has little influence on French Marigolds' physiologicalindexes, but it prolongs the florescence to a relatively greater degree, especially when gone through two pinching processing, the prolonged degree appears to be the mostevident, except for some certain influence on its plant height. Generally speaking, pinching processing would not produce too much influence on the botanicalcharacters of French Marigolds. Nevertheless, the effect would be greatly improved ifapplied together with plant growth retardant. Therefore, through applying pinchingprocessing and plant growth retardant, the florescence of French Marigolds wouldreceive appropriate control, and the value for viewing and appreciation wouldcorrespondingly enhance.
