Rare or endemic wild ornamental plant resources in Guizhou are rich in species,they have high economic value. These resources not only can be used directly in modern agriculture, ecological construction and traditional Chinese medicine modernization, but also have strategic significance in coordinating the ecosystems and genetic resources.We have researched on Guizhou wild ornamental plants for 3 years. On the basis of the senior experts'research, we selected 20 germplasm from Guizhou important wild ornamental plants (Wild camellia plants are in the majority.), introduced them in Guizhou Botanical Garden and researched their value and the present situation of protection and utilization. By collecting seeds, keeping in cold storage, propagation seeds and introducing seedlings, we succeeded in introducing and conserving 20 species of Guizhou important wild ornamental plants. It not only effectively protects the resources of these plant species, but also provides sharing services of knowledge and resources entities for the scientific experiments, popular science education.On the basis of successful conservation, we did some research for representative species which had important ornamental value and good market prospect, including propagation of seeds, ramet breeding and cutting propagation. We obtained good results in propagation, such as Camellia luteoflora, Camellia delicate, Camellia neriifolia, Camellia longistyla, Tutcheria kweichowensis, Cycas guizhouensis and Acer guizhouensis. Meanwhile, by the comparison treatment of different fertilizer and illumination, we found that it was better to use N early, use P,K late, and full illumination could effectively promote the growth of Acer guizhouense.We also researched the application of cultivation techniques and utilization of resources technology, summed up an optimal suitable cultivation techniques program to the current production and application, included preserving seeds, propagation, raising seedling and cultivation management. This study would provide valuable theoretic guidance and technological support to the future production applications. According to the contents of the study, I offered my reference comments and proposals about Guizhou wild ornamental plant resources protection and rational development and utilization.
