Investigation and application of wild ornamental plants plays an important role in studying landscape plants and ornamental horticultures.It is also the primary source of revitalization of domestic ornamental plants and promoting the species diversity of Chinese landscape plants,and a key method for protection of rare and endangered plants and promoting its sustainable development and utilizationThis research was conducted at Yuntai Mountain in the city of Lianyungang, wild ornamental plant species of this area were surveyed;And characteristics, species diversity, optimization and simulation design of wild plant communites was also researched and discussed, which tend to focus on the following 5 research priorities:(1)143 families,368 genera and 517 species were selected with the support of references and the route investigation for one and a half years.Classified discussions and recommendations were made on these wild ornamental plants according to its life forms,ornamental types and application forms.(2)A synthetical assessment pattern was established to evaluate exploitation and application value of 112 ornamental trees and shrubs.Adaptability,ornamental value,exploitation and application value was selected as main evaluation indices. Sequencing on exploitation and application potential was acquired which could be helpful to give priority to utilize these 122 wild plants.36 wild ornamental trees and shrubs were recommended emphatically.(3)Based on the measurement and subsequent statistics of 40 quadrats of 6 representative regions of Yuntai Mountain, community numerical characteristics and species diversity indices of dominant communities were obtained which could provide data foundation for optimizing and exploiting wild plant communities into urban landscape green spaces.(4)30 models of plant configuration having different uses were epurated after optimization and simplification of wild plant communities in Yuntai Mountain. Simulation design of plant communities which have more wild plants was given in 4 representative green spaces of Lianyungang.(5)16 rare and endangered plants of Yuntai Mountain were selected and analyzed emphatically.Taking it for example,some discussions and revelent suggestions were given about method for protecting them with the help of exploitation and application.
