Forest park is a great place, where you can enjoy beautiful scenery, nature and human landscape. It's also a fascinating place where you can go for entertainment, relaxation, scientific research, and education. The aim of its development is to accelerate the forest tourism. The forest tourism is based on forest park at the same time it compensates and impulses the development of the forest park. The forest tourism also shows the way of market development clearly and brings forward the new demand.Based on the concept and the theory of forest park and forest tourism, development advantages of Hanzhong forest park were identified as follows: i) through the past several years'development, forest tourism products were getting so abundant gradually that a fundamental scale was formed, with three national forest parks as well as three province parks founded; ii) the idea of"tourism stimulation"was determined as the development strategy in the province since forest tourism played an increasingly significant part in the development of Hanzhong economy and society; iii) geo-topographically, forest park in Hanzhong not only possess similar precipitous view of Qinling, but also equally splendid scenery of Bashan; iv) hydrologically, the landscape had a lasting appeal as that in south China to some extend; v) the forest located in the best site of the same latitude; vi) with the opening of Xihan expressway, access to Hanzhong was upgraded prominently, which made the park a garden of Xi'an and a resort for many citizens. Hanzhong forest park, though is infinite vitality, had some inferiors as follows: i) insufficient investment of fundamental construction, incomplete institution and unharmonious elements of industry; ii) low efficient exploration of the forest tourism, low industrialization degree and the unitary form of production; iii) poor professional knowledge of the crew and lack of tourist talent; iv) severe restriction of traffic; v).insufficient propagation and low popularity; vi) the un-intact diversity of virgin forest and low abundance. Through comparison with the development of forest park across the province as well as across the country, development orientation as well as marketing segmentations of Hanzhong forest park were determined. Measures for solving the problems confronted with the forest park were put forward.The competitive power of Hanzhong forest park mainly lies in its natural landscape. With both the precipitous view of Qinling and same scenery of Bashan, marketing of the Hanzhong forest park should aim at the region in the north of Qinling, such as: Guanzhong, Shaanbei, Gansu and Ningxia. The opening of Xi'an-hanzhong expressway, the competitive power was further promoted.For sustainable and rapid development, Hanzhong forest park should firstly take advantage of its strong points and market demands for determining its development; secondly forest tourism as the promising industry due to its integration of ecological and economic benefits, should be invested from government side to strengthen the infrastructure and improve the environment for attracting commercial investment from outside; thirdly should lift management to a higher level; fourthly should have regulations concerning administration and employment established; and fifthly, should have a people-oriented management and ecologically friendly concept in service and administration.
