Seeding is one of the most important processes of agriculture production, planter is the main equipment that execute sowing operation, its performance directly determines growth and yield of the crop. Seed-metering device is the key part of planter, and its performance directly determines the performance of planter. Therefore, studying on and monitoring performance of seed-metering device is very important to guarantee planting quality.Hill-drop planting includes single particle precision planting and multi particle precision planting. With the development of precision planting technology, single particle precision planting has become the main developing direction. At present most of the domestic planters are mechanical or pneumatic, and the planting process is closed, so humans cannot monitor the planting quality by themselves. Furthermore, for the widespread application of no-tillage planter, because the ground surface is covered with straw, the operation condition is bad, then the phenomenon of miss-seeding or reseeding occur frequently. So it is more important to monitor the planting quality.This paper first consults the domestic and foreign research actuality on relational monitoring system. Based on the comparison among congener products, the research aim and content of monitoring system for planting quality is brought forward.In the whole design scheme of the monitoring system, the function is introduced. The function is monitoring the whole process of planting operation, finding the fault such as the sowing box is empty, seed-metering device is blocked with seeds, transmission is blocked and so on which lead to one ore more lines can not work normally, consequently cause miss-leading or reseeding, eliminating the fault in time to guarantee planting quality.In the hardware design of control system, considered the memory, the interface resources, the ability of data processing and the reliability performance and etc, the ATMEL Corporation's MCU AT89C52 has been chosen as master controller. The hardware mainly includes power supply, signal input unit, main control unit, signal output unit. Signal input unit mainly complete collection of signals such as sowing box, seeding and speed and signal conditioning. Main control unit mainly complete the calculation and procession of data, calculation the performance index of the planter and send out control command. Signal output unit mainly complete the display of performance index and alarm when miss-seeding or reseeding occur. In the software design aspect, program is compiled with assembly language, because assembly language has some advantages such as without translation, velocity is fast and efficiency is high. The program mainly achieves initialization of the system, collection of data, process of data, display of data etc, which includes main program and module programs.Finally, do some tests and analyse the results.
