In modern crop cultivation physiological research,people commonly use source-sink-flow theory to explain the formation of crop yields,and explore ways of high-yield crops,thereby fully tap the potential yield of crops.Since the source-translocation-sink theory proposed,people has conducted a lot of researches on seed crops,such as cotton,soybean,rape and gramineous crops, while pay less attention on vegetative-organ-harvesting crops.The application of aeroponics in potato culture makes it convenient to do the source-translocation-sink research.Therefore,we use aeroponics in this study.Applying a fully randomized trial design,we test two potato varieties, Gaoyuan No.7 and Shepody' growth and tuberization capability while changing their source and sink conditions.In source,the four treatments are reserving 4,7 and 10 leaves at the top of the main stem respectively and lowering it,or do nothing.The three sink treatments are removing the mini-tubers or stolons,or do nothing.The results are as follows:1.With a few leaves left in the main stem,the potato plant's total leaf number,weight and leaf area index are decreased significantly.That leads to other plant indexes significantly decreased together,such as the weight and diameter of the plant stem,root,the weight and activity of the root, total sugar and nitrogen content and so on.That greatly limits the vegetative organs' further growth and development,and finally declines the aeroponics potato's tuberization capability index significantly,like the stolon number,tubers number,tubers' total and average weight etc.Buds cannot be transformed into stolons by lowering the plant largely and constantly.2.Sink regulation can significant increase some plant index,like the total leaf weight, chlorophyll content,height,diameter,total nitrogen content,root weight and the number of stolons etc.Among them,the stolons removed processing will lead to average 2.38 more stolon per plant. Comparably,removing tubers can also increase average 1.10 more stolons,while the number and weight of tubers increased 38.94%and 9.39%respectively per plant.More tubers can be achieved by removing growing tubers continually.3.The effects of source-sink regulation are deferent with different varieties.Shepody has stronger growth potential than Gaoyuan No.7,but the latter has 3.85 more stolons.The tubers' number and weight of Gaoyuan No.7 is 1.49 and 1.21 times of Shepody.Compared with other measure combination,picking tubers can achieve highest tuber weight and quantity in the two potato varieties.As for Shepody,compared with CK,the number of tubers increased 2.47 percent while the weight of tubers decreased 6.70 percent.That result is different in Gaoyuan No.7,the tubers' number and weight of which is increased 59.75%and 16.22%respectively.So we can reach the conclusion that sink regulation can more significantly increase the tuber yield of Gaoyuan No.7.4.Correlation analysis showed that the underground sections,as root's area,dry weight and vitality,have reached a very significant positive correlation coefficient with overground sections, which include stem diameter,stem weight,the number and dry weight of leaf and leaf area index. And the overground sections also have extremely significant or significant positive correlation with the sink,while the plant height has significant or insignificant negative correlation.Root volume and root vigor have significant positive correlation with sink organs.Roots' dry weight has very significant or significant positive correlation with the total and average weight of the potato tuber. To improve the tuberization capability of aeroponics potato,it should be with short and stout stem. And we should promote root growth,increase root vigor,the number of leaves and leaf area.All of these can improve leaf area index,which increased leaf photosynthetic capacity.
