The research and application of crop growth model and decision support system for crop management would be important for facilitating development of informational and digital agriculture. At present, many crop growth simulation models have been applied in agricultural production which has been researched and developed for decades. The method and standard haven't been standardized yet. There are few the unitive facility applications to describe the physiological-ecological process of crops by using different kinds of models, and the parameters aren't unified. By adopting advanced modeling technology abroad and the methodology of crop growth model developed by our lad, a crop growth model based on general algorithm framework was developed through system analysis theory and mathematics modeling method. And by using weather generation model, variety parameter generation model and strategy evaluation model, with using the technologies of object-oriented programming and software component, a growth model and component-based decision support system for crop management was developed using the technologies of object-oriented programming and software component. With the effective coupling of the crop simulating estimation, decision-making and alternating technology, the system realized the functions as farming information management, dynamic simulation, strategy evaluation, real-time prediction, temporal and spatial analysis and system maintenance.General arithmetic frameworks of crop simulation model can be systemically classified by the crop variety, and then on the base of crops' general physiological-ecological process, it is divided into five modules. We synthetically epurate general arithmetic frameworks, covering crops' main dynamics of growth process, such as plant development stage and phenophase, photosynthesis, respiration, dry matter accumulation and partitioning , LAI, yield formation, et al, and introduce parameters to build different crops' growth simulation general arithmetic. The general arithmetic frameworks of crop simulation model was test by data of wheat sowing test in 1996 and rice N fertilizer experiment in 2004 on Nanjing, the result showed it not only can effectively predict the dynamic processes in crop growth under different environments, variety types, and production conditions, but also actualize some functions as simulation and management on various crops. It had used the same similitude design and unified parameter settings method, what is convenient for extension and perfection of models. It also can use the technology of code share and unitizing communication interface with other systems to strengthen modularity and reliability of system, share the informational resources, avoid repeated research and development, increase software productivity, deployed quickly and expediently at low cost. This study provides a foundation for establishing general and digital crop management decision support system.Based on general algorithm framework about crop growth model, and using software engineering and component technique, the crop growth model components based on COM standard and component-based comprehensive crop growth simulation system were developed by incorporating weather generation model and variety parameter generation model. The system included the main important modules such as development progress, organ formation, photosynthetic assimilation, growth respiration, biomass partitioning, organ establishment, yield and quality formation, nitrogen and water dynamics, et al, and could predict the dynamic progresses of crop growth, yield and quality formation under different environments, genotypes and management strategies. By using menu, dialog box, icon, graph and table, the software keeps friendly and harmonious in function and interface.By further application of decision-making technique, a growth model-based crop management decision support system was developed with the crop growth model components based on COM standard. The system is composed of growth model components, database, model dictionary, man-machine interface and Interface, and can realize the functions such as farming information management, dynamic simulation, strategy evaluation, real-time prediction, temporal and spatial analysis and system maintenance. This study provides a foundation for establishing growth model and component-based decision support system for crop management.Case-based analysis on wheat displays the system used general arithmetic framework of crop simulation model not only can effectively predict the dynamic processes in crop growth under different environments, variety types, and production conditions, but also actualize some functions as simulation and management on various crops. It can provide a foundation for establishing general crop management decision support system.
