Arnold Red Honeysuckle is a perennial deciduous shrub of Lonicera in Caprifoliaceae; it has good landscape value and ecological value. In order to exploited its utilization value in Tianjin area, by pot experiment under artificial water stress conditions, the author of this paper observed a row physiological index in leaves of the two-year-old Arnold Red Honeysuckle plants for a long continuous-time, discussed on the drought resistance and salt-tolerant mechanism, and evaluated its drought resistance and salt tolerance, which provided scientific basis for reasonable utilization and sustainable development of plant resources. Meanwhile, this paper had study on cutting propagation technique of Arnold Red Honeysuckle, it would offer theory and techniques support for rapid propagation in factory. In cutting experiment , the result showed that different exogenous hormones with different concentrations had very significant on average rate of rooting, average root length and germination rate, but had not obvious effects on average root number and callus rate. The treatment of ABT1 (100 mg.kg-1) was the best for average rate of rooting and average root length ,it had the highest percentage of rooting (87%)and longest average root length(46.92mm). At the concentration of 100mg.kg-1 ABT1, the germination rate reached to highest (90%).As a whole, ABT1 had a more stable promotion on rooting of Arnold Red Honeysuckle than IBA.In drought stress experiment, the result showed that there were many changes in physiological indexes contents of Arnold Red Honeysuckle, to some degree which reflected the adjustment and adaptation of Arnold Red Honeysuckle under drought stress. The whole change trend of contents of free proline, soluble sugar, peroxides, chlorophyll, bound water were good for Arnold Red Honeysuckle adapting in drought stress; although the tissue water content downtrended, it maintained at a hight level. Integrating above indexes manifestations, the Arnold Red Honeysuckle had strong drought resistance. In salt stress experiment, the result showed that, in different soil environment with different salt (Nacl) levels, the content of MDA and Pro showed different changes. When soil salt content within 4.5g/kg, Arnold Red Honeysuckle had strong salt resistance;and it could adapt to salt stress in some extent by autoregulation.
