There are many kinds of diseases due to Calcipenia, which restrict the development of livestock husbandry. So, more attention has been paid to it. Supplement calcium agents that are safe, economical, easy to use and suitable to livestock are quite rare in our country. And the effect is not satisfactory. To solve this problem, supplement calcium gel agents were developed and the performance and effect were tested. The main contents were as follows:1. After testing many kinds of high molecular compound, hydroxyethyl cellulose was selected. Calcium chloride and hydroxyethyl cellulose were compounded to form Calcium gel. The results of hot storage stability test, cold storage stability test, illumination test and acceleration test demonstrated that the fluidity, transparency, viscosity and Calcium content (P>0.05) were stable and not changed. The pH value dropped in a small range (P>0.05) in hot storage stability test, illumination test and acceleration test, but it did not affect the characteristics of Calcium gel. Acute toxicity test and long-term toxicity test were done with mice. In acute toxicity test, mice were administered with Calcium gel with 0.8mL/20g (body weight) twice daily, but it didn't cause toxicosis and there were no obviously pathological changes in the important tissue and organ. In long-term toxicity test, mice were administered with Calcium gel for 14 days with the dose of 0.4mL/20g, 0.6mL/20g and 0.8mL/20g (body weight) twice daily. It did not cause toxicosis or death. The increased trends of average weight of the mice had no significant differences with the control group (P>0.05). The results demonstrated that Calcium gel is stable and safe. This research can accumulate experience and data for the development of Calcium and Phosphorus gel.2. On the basis of the development of Calcium gel, calcium phosphate was added to form Calcium and Phosphorus gel. The results of hot storage stability test, cold storage stability test, illumination test and acceleration test demonstrated that the color, fluidity, viscosity and Calcium and Phosphorus contents (P>0.05) were not changed. The pH value dropped in a small range (P>0.05) in hot storage stability test, illumination test and acceleration test, but the characteristics of Calcium and Phosphorus gel was not affected. At the same time, no solid phase occurred in centrifugal test though deposit was observed. In acceleration test, deposit was observed in 90, 120, 150 and 180d, but disappeared by shaking. Acute toxicity test and long-term toxicity test were done with mice. In acute toxicity test, mice (n=20) were administered with Calcium and Phosphorus gel with 0.8mL/20g body weight twice daily. After 7 days, it didn't cause toxicosis and there were no obviously pathological changes in the important tissue and organ. In long-term toxicity test, mice in the experimental group (n=20) were administered with Calcium and Phosphorus gel for 14 days with the dose of 0.4mL/20g, 0.6mL/20g and 0.8mL/20g body weight twice daily. It did not cause toxicosis or death. The increased trends of average weight of the mice had no significant differences with the control group (P>0.05). The results suggested that Calcium and Phosphorus gel is stable and safe.3 The milk goats (n=5) were administered with Calcium and Phosphorus gel with 100mL each to test the supplement effect of calcium. The serum Calcium and Phosphorus concentrations were increased and reached the peak concentration after 2~3h (P<0.05). And the high serum Calcium and Phosphorus concentrations were maintained about 6h. At the same time, the effect of Calcium and Phosphorus gel on cow parturient paresis was tested, compared with the control that was injected 5% calcium chloride. The incidence rates of Calcium and Phosphorus gel group had no significant difference with control (P>0.05). Moreover, in early postpartum, the serum Calcium and Phosphorus concentrations (1.803±0.041mmol/L, 1.482±0.072mmol/L, respectively) of Calcium and Phosphorus gel group were higher than those of control group (1.623±0.026mmol/L, 1.243±0.046mmol/L, respectively). The results showed that Calcium and Phosphorus gel has has effect on calcium and phosphorus supplementation...
