Protection, Exploitation And Utilization Of Hu Sheep

Hu sheep is a unique excellent budge-type breed in the coastal farming area of southeast China. Its enormous latent economic value lays in high reproduction ability, fast growth ability in early period, and as well as the properties of being able to bear high temperature, high humidity and rising in shed. Budge of Hu sheep, as "soft gem" in China, was a traditional export Commodity, and of high reputation in international budge market. However now, the protection of Hu sheep is facing a formidable situation because of long-term lack of exploitation and utilization as well as crossing with sheep out-of-town planlessly.The paper introduced the origin, breed characteristics, feeding and management, and molecular biology research of Hu sheep. According to the resource status quo and real situations of protection area in Dongshan town, Wuzhong borough, Suzhou city, Jiangsu province, the paper expatiated main protection measures, and protection achievements we have got, as well as main problems in protection practice and their disposal measures. Some standpoints about Hu sheep exploitation and utilization were also put forward in order to provide some references for better protection and utilization of Hu sheep resources in China.
