Research On The Relationship Of Cottonseed Meal And Cottonseed Hull In Feed And The Sheep Urinary Concretion

Our objective were to determine effects of altering gossypol intake by feeding cotton byproducts such as cottonseed meal(CSM) and cottonseed hull(CSH) on urinary stones formation in fatten sheep, in order to provide reference that we can be better using cotton by-products and reducing urine stone incidence in fatten sheep in the future.This experiment components three experiments. In experiment 1, investigation incidence of sheep urolithiasis of finishing sheep field in Ulumqi City. Analyzed CSM and CSH and free gossypol(FG) concentrations in finishing sheep's diet, serum calcium and inorganic phosphorus contents of both the incidence and normal sheep, FG contents of urolithiasis sheep's livers, kidneys; In experiment 2, studied the effect of different level of CSM in diet on urinary calculi formation of the sheep. In experiment 3, Analyzed the effect of different amount of CSH in diet on the Sheep urinary calculi formation.The experiments results showed that CSM in diet should not above 0.3 % of sheep's BW (or not more than 15% in concentrate), and CSH in diet should not above 1 % of sheep's BW for 4-month old fatten lambs, or else lambs sheep prone to urinary stone,. but the illness will quickly be relieved when CSM and CSH in diet were reduced, and added feed rich vitamin A forage. When adequate clean water can be drinked and vitamins and minerals are balance, sheep urine stone caused by CSM and CSH can be alleviated.From the above we can concluded, Feeding, such as cottonseed cake meal and Cotton Seed Hull gossypol-rich feed for a long time, the sheep serum calcium, phosphorus, liver and kidney's FG contents, urine protein content and pH have significant impact. The result is caused by gossypol accumulated in the body and leaded to liver and kidney and other organs damaged, so that urine crystal stones formated, showed as symptoms of urinary stones.
