In this paper, the effects of different soil water on the water-consumption characterristics, growth dynamic, physiological respones, content of active components of Scrophularia ningpocnsis Hemsl. were systemmatic studied by pot cultivation experiment, irrigation and some suggestions for drainage system were given, too. The results were expected to provide scientific basis for standardized water administration in practical planting. The main results are as follows:1. CK treatment was the highest Water-consumption in the whole growing stage and ea-ch growing stage, and SD treatment was the least. Water-consumption of anthesis is higher than seeding and root enlarging stage.Series change of water-consumption and transpiration rate in daytimes were measured, the curve showed one high pionts in sunshine days. When it's cloudy and overcast, the curves showed two high pionts significantly. In different growing stages, SD, MD and CK treatment were carried out; The results indicated that treatment 2(seeding 70%~75%,anthesis 70%~75%,root enlarging 50%~55%) was the highest water-consumption treatment, and it was significantly higher than other treatments. The lowest water-consumption happened in treatment 6(seeding 40%~45%,anthesis 50%~55%,root enlarging 70%~75%). Water-consumption of all the treatments in the whole living stage had positive relationship with water condition.2. The research showed that the shoot height and single leaf area of Scrophularia ningpocnsis Hemsl. were significantly restrained under SD, MD and HW treatment(P<0.05), and the chlorophyll content in leaf were also lower than the CK treatment. The effect of SD, MD and HW treatment on the content of soluble protein was that they were higher than CK treatment on the 13th day of the treatment, and were restrained after the 13th day. The water content of different treatment had no significant difference. The sequence of Pn from the highest to the lowest was CK> HW>MD>SD. Gs of HW and CK were higher than MD and SD. The sequence of Tr from the highest to the lowest was HW>CK>MD>SD. The Tr increased first and then decreased, the highest Tr happened at 14:00.SOD and APX activity changed in a complicated way during the treatment; POD and CAT activity were decreased with the prolonging of the treatment time.3. SD and MD treatment were positive for the accumulation of Arpagoside and Cinnamic Acid in the roots of Scrophularia ningpocnsis Hemsl. Whereas HW treatment had negative effect.4. In different growing stages, SD, MD and CK treatment were carried out; The highest root yield and the highest content of active components happened in treatment 7, and the lowest yield of root and the lowest content of active components was treatment 6.5. Water requirement of Scrophularia ningpocnsis Hemsl. was 254.708mm~609.073mm in the whole living stage; The pink appeared in june; Soil water condition, water from the rain, the growing condition must be considered in the production in order to make sure that how much water need to be irrigated.
