With the worldwide lack of natural forest resources and natural forest protection project in the implementation, the extensive use of plantation timber to resolve the timber supply and demand has become an important way of contradictions. Poplar is the important timber in our country. Because the loose material, low density, easy to corrupt of the wood, the use of poplar wood has limited diffusely.In order to enhance its decay resistance, to expand its application range and conservation of limited timber resources, poplar wood preservative treatment is very necessary and inevitable. In this research we used 3 preservatives, urea-formaldehyde (UP), bakelite (PF), and amine salt antiseptic (ACQ) to treat poplar wood firstly, and tested the antiseptic and antimildewy capability of poplar wood.This main results are as follows:1. Six rot-fungi were collected, biologic characteristic and the rot ability of thoes fungi were researched. The rot fungi Lenzites acuta and Fomes fomentarius have a high ability to decay the wood and were confirm as the standard fungi used in the test. The culture medium used in the test were compared and filtrated. The improved PDA and cottonseed hull-sawdust culture medium were good for use in the test.2. The rot-resistance ability of the wood treated with urea-formaldehyde (UP), bakelite(PF), amine salt antiseptic(ACQ)and PF+ACQ were estimated. The result indicated that the wood treted with PF+ ACQ were the highest rot-resistance ability. The wood losing ratio of this treated with PF+ ACQ was lower than others,for 12.8948%and19.2582%. The solidity of the wood was also better than the others. The wood treted only with ACQ were better than the contrast. There was no distinct difference of the wood rot-resistance ability between treat with UP and the contrast.3. Tested with the 3 primordial wood (Populus alba L. var. pyram idalis, Populus deltoids and Populus tomentosa), the rot-resistance ability was various with the different wood. The wood of Populus alba L. var. pyram idalis has high resistance grade of rot-resistance, the woods of Populus deltoide sand Populus tomentos belong to low resistance grade of rot -resistance,4. Test on the antimildew capability of poplar wood treted with preservative(UP,PF,ACQ and PF+ACQ), the results were same to the teated with presser- vative. The treatment with PF+ ACQ was also the best.
