The research and application of crop growth model and crop morphology model would be important for informational and digital agriculture. Crop growth model and crop morphology model could reflect the crop growth status from different perspectives; therefore a framework was developed for improving accuracy and comprehensiveness of crop growth simulation which both physiology and morphology were emphasized. By comprehensively analyzing rice growth model, rice morphology model and rice visual model developed by our lab, a process-based integration framework was established. Then, by using weather generation model, variety parameter trial model and strategy analysis and evaluation model, a model-based visual rice growth system (MVGSR) was developed using the technologies of object-oriented programming and soft component. It could realize an effective integration of eco-physiologial prediction, morphological prediction, decision support and dynamic visualization.According to comprehensively analyzing the characteristics of rice growth model, rice morphology model and rice visualization model, the same intermediate variables or target variables were identified. Using time process, leaf area, biomass accumulation and effect factors of water and nitrogen as bridges, the mechanisms and methods to integrate rice growth model and rice morphology model were discussed. It initially established rice function- structure model, and realized the simulation indexes effectively integrated at different levels as population, individual plants and organs. Meanwhile it improved the model simulation results and makes visual output rational, systematic, dynamic and dependable.The rice morphogenesis module was established with .NET standard. Then on the basis of rice growth model, rice morphogenesis model, rice visualization model and weather generation model, variety parameter trial model and strategy analysis and evaluation model, the whole system was developed with the technologies of object-oriented programming and soft component. The system was programmed in the .NET framework with the C# language, and the database was designed with MS-Access 2003. By using menu, dialog box, icon, graph and table, the software keeped friendly and harmonious in function and interface. It was composed of database, models, model application and man-machine interface, and could realize the functions such as data management, growth simulation, strategy evaluation, real-time prediction and temporal and spatial analysis. Its operation was systemic, dynamic, decision-making, and vivid.Case studies on the system with the Yangdao 6 and Wuxiangjing 14 indicated that the design idea and structure framework of the system was accorded with the development demand of digital agricultural system. This study provided a technical foundation for establishing integrative and digital rice growth system.
