Three-dimensional simulation of tree on computer has become one of the hot research questions. By now, some researcher work on simulation of tree growth procedure and tree growth mechanism based on methods such as L-System and Stochastic Processes. But little research has been taken on combing IFS (Iterated Function System) with growth model in tree modality simulation.Firstly,on the basis of application in tree modality simulation by IFS arithmetic,two points were improved。One is iterative computed with each branch take place of traditional iterative function system method which computed with whole tree.It avoid the defect of traditional method and makes tree modality more multiplicity。The other is combing models of tree modality structure and experienced growth models,Parameters of tree modality structure are adjusted using experienced tree growth model to confirm the coupling relation of them. By so the simulation of tree growth can be more real.Secondly,On the basis of improved IFS arithmetic and tree growth equation, the main feature parameters of tree growth structure are abstracted, research methods to get parameters of tree modality structure are designed and specified. And then, Cunninghamia Lanceolata in Huang Fengqiao Forest Farm in You county Hunan province is choose as survey object, the length, diameter, elevation angle and azimuth angle of its first-level, second-level branch are measured. The result is that correlation of the branch length and diameter of branch bottom in first level is well.At the final stage, a parameterized three-dimensional visualization system on computer for tree simulation is developed using DirectX9.0 software platform and c# programming language. The modality and growth procedure of Cunninghamia Lanceolata are simulated with the parameters which is get from the field survey. Coupling of improved IFS arithmetic and experienced tree growth equation, simulation on tree modality growth is proved to be better.
