In order to study the effect of CS on growth performance,serum biochemical parameters,material metabolic rate of nutrients and slaughter performance of XueFeng black-bone chicken,540 XueFeng black-bone chicken(one day old) were divided into five groups randomly.Every group included six replicates,each replicate with eighteen birds.CS were added in the dosage of 0mg/kg,45mg/kg,65mg/kg,,85mg/kg and 105mg/kg to the diet respectively during the 56 days.It is indicated in the results that:1.The growth performance of XueFeng black-bone chicken was improved with the addition of CS remarkably(P<0.01).In contrast to the 65mg/kg CS group the average daily gain(ADG)increased 9.66%,22.75%(P<0.01) during the eight weeks and four weeks respectively while the average daily gain of 45mg/kg CS and 85mg/kg CS group increased 9.66%,22.75%(P<0.01) respectively during the four weeks;the average daily gain(ADG) of 45mg/kg CS group increased 11.40%, 10.37%(P<0.01) respectively during the four weeks and full period(0-8weeks). The average daily gain of 85mg/kg CS group increased 11.40%,6.44%(P<0.01) respectively during the first four weeks and the full period(0-8weeks).In the first four weeks,45mg/kg CS group had the greatest AGFI value,second to 65mg/kg CS group(P<0.05).F/G of 65mg/kg and 85mg/kg CS groups reduced by 5.50%(P<0.05), 3.00%(P>0.05) compared with the zone group respectively during the first four weeks;during the eight weeks F/G of 45mg/kg and 65mg/kg CS groups reduced by 1.65%(P>0.05),9.88%(P<0.05) compared with the zone group respectively;F/G of 45mg/kg,65mg/kg CS groups and 85mg/kg CS groups reduced by 2.78%(P>0.05),6.35%(P<0.01),9.92%(P<0.01) compared with the zone group(Ⅰ) respectively during the first eight weeks.The results showed that CS markedly improved ADG and enhanced feed conversion ratio.2.CS could increase the contents of GH,TP,TG,ALB and VLDL and could also reduce the contents of BUN and TC,and there were no significant differences on the contents of GH,TP,ALB,BUN,TG,TC,VLDL and ALT during each and every treatment.3.In Contrast to theⅠgroup,the breast weight percent of 65mg/kg CS group increased 6.78%(P<0.05);the abdominal fat percent decreased by 2.92%,20.23%,5.11%and 12.41%respectively.The rate of chest muscle to water capacity of 105mg/kg CS group was 22.85%higher than the control by(P<0.01) while the rate of chest muscle to CP of 45mg/kg CS group was 1.79%higher than the control (P>0.05).Above all,CS could increase GH value and improve growth performance,and the utility of feed and nutrition.It could also decrease abdominal fat and drip loss of meat,improve the breast percentage and meat quality.Statistical analyses of regression equation showed 55.67mg/kg CS had the greatest ADG during the first four weeks and 70mg/kg could reach the greatest F/G.
