The Study On The Investigation Of Tree Peony Varieties And Its Introduction Cultivation In The South Yangtse River Of China

Based on investigation and visitation of visiting Shanghai, Zhejiang , south of Jiangsu, south of Anhui , finding out the cultivating and dispersing circumstance of tree peony resources, the state of planting introduced varieties, the present developing and applying state in the south Yangtze River. At the same time, introduce and study the traditional varieties. The main conclusions are as follows:1. Varieties of peony in the areas south of the lower reaches of Yangtze River have been divided into traditional ones , introduced ones and breeding selection. In natural conditions, the traditional varieties can blossom every year. The thesis clear up 26 traditional varieties which can be divided into white, pink, red and purple, totally four color system, including 11 varieties which are from"Chinese Tree Peony (Xibei, Xinan, Jiangnan Volume)", 6 new varieties, 9 varieties which blong to'Fengdan'strain.The introduced varieties contain nine color system of tree peony .After over hard research in the main producing areas, the result exhibit that some of the introduced varieties grow normally such as'Guifeichuyu','Luoyanghong','Guifeichacui', etc. The wholly flowering season of peony in the south Yangtze River is from April 1st to around April 20th. The traditional varieties blossom firstly; the Central Plains peonies blossom in the second place; then the Japanese peonies and the northwest peonies blossom finally.2. In the south Yangtze River of China, the survival rate of grafting sprouts are not greatly influenced by grafting among different rootstocks. The keys of the survival are the temperature and humidity in the process of grafting. The influence of rain needs to be paid special attentions. The grafting breeding has better been operated in the early October and in the sunny day which has been lasted over a week. Through the observation of the introduced varieties in 2008 and 2009, the traditional varieties, especially'Feng Dan Bai','Yu Lou','Chang Hong'can grow normally in Linan. They can be cultivated in the extensive manner and their wholly flowering season is about fifteen days.3. Summarizing result of determination about changes of summer peony leaves'outward appearance and physiological index, it can be concluded that the high temperature and humidity in summer greatly influence the growing of peony, especially damage the leaves of peony. in view of change of physiological indicators of 6 varieties'leaves in stress of high temperature and humidity, determine'Feng Dan Bai','Yu Hong'more resistant to heat.Shading experiment, found that 50% of shade have the best effect on the tree peony.In the practical applications, the shrub with small leaves such as beech and hackberry can shade the peony in the summer, for the one thing to reduce the high temperature and for the other to extend the green leave period so as to improve appreciation quality.4. After investigation and analysis, the resources garden of peony varieties in the south of Yangtze River is established, in which various varieties of peony can be collected, stored and arranged and superior varieties of peony can be choose and cultivated. And then the regional association or organization can be established in order to strengthen communications between units who cultivate the introduced peony. This is the way to satisfy actual desire of current development of peony in the south of Yangtze River.
