The software interface of forest management layout is in-depth research of shape file format based on Corp. ESPI. It is developed on the platform of Visual C++ 6.0 which provided by Microsoft using MFC class library, and it is also combined with database development technology. The interface is based on the required input data of forest management layout software, as well as the result of analysis and treatment. It not only provides basic data of necessary file format for forestry space layout software, but also expands the function of forestry GIS by combining forest management layout software with geographic information system..The interface realizes the basic functions of reading, zooming in, zooming out, traversing, classification showing, and inquiring of attribute value. The interface realizes modification of DBF attribute table which include adding and deleting. It generates required data format by replacing the same records of a column by appointed contents and combining the contents of column field. It also can calculate the subcompartment area and confirm position of slope, and add the results to DBF attribute table automatically. These are the features of the interface.The advantage of the interface is: 1. It facilitates the data collection and shows the analysis results directly by combining forest management layout software with GIS closely. 2. Due to the independent development, it is very flexible and innovative for the expansion of kinds of functions and it also has the copyright of the system and low development cost.This paper introduces the storage structure of Shape file and gives the algorithm of coordinate point values and attribute values in detail. It also brings forward corresponding conversion principle by the discussion of conversion relationship of actual coordinates and logical coordinates. Meanwhile, it discusses principle, algorithm design and conversion formula of every function in detail.This paper takes Mi yaluo forest district in Li county of Sichuan Province as an example. It describes the data analysis process of every function.This paper compares the showing and analyzing output of the interface with the output of ArcView GIS software. The results show the same output. Besides, it is more professional (forestry). It can be used in the forest management layout software and provide more convenient and efficient service.
