Inner Mongolia grassland was an important animal husbandry base and it also was the natural ecological barrier for Northern China. With the increasing intensity of use, a major area of grassland became to degradation and it had seriously affected the sustainable development of the regional socio-economic. Therefore, it was significant to study the relationship between grass and livestock for the reasonable grazing use of the grassland. This study took the Qilian, Baiyinxile of Xilingole League Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as an example. According to the Positioning observational data, it explored the relationships between the standing live aboveground biomass and stocking rates from the two scales including the sample and the family ranch when it was used in a way of free grazing in natural grassland. At last, this study concluded that:1. The study area was divided into three types of vegetation communities including Leymus Chinensis community Stipa community and Leymus Chinensis + Stipa community and with the exception of August, there were not significant difference in the standing live aboveground biomass of the same type grass vegetation of the remaining months in the grass growing season.2. The stocking rate was mainly concentrated in range of 1.5 to 2.5 sheep units / ha and its breed mainly in sheep. There was great changes in growing season for grassland stocking rate and it was highest in 6, 7 month and the same in 5, 8 and 9 month.3. The standing live aboveground biomass was different in the different levels of stocking rate in the months of growing season. All the standing live aboveground biomass was different in the growing season and there were also significant difference between the high and the low stocking rate in May and between the high and the middle stocking rate in September.4. There was a significant negative correlation between stocking rate and the standing live aboveground biomass in the growing season excepting July and it meet the highest significant level in May.5. The accumulation and dynamic changes of the standing live aboveground biomass was affected by the grazing. The biomass under the high stocking rate was lower than under the middle or the low grazing rate. The rate of biomass growth was fastest under the low stocking rate.6. The grass yield estimation models in the different times were established with the use of the observation date of the grassland standing live aboveground biomass in different months and the same period of satellite remote sensing NDVI data. What is more, it also got the spatial distribution image of the standing live aboveground biomass in the corresponding month.7. There was a significant correlation between the grassland standing live aboveground biomass and stocking rate in the scale of family ranch. It was potential to estimate the stocking rate and standing live aboveground biomass had a down ward trend when the stocking rate was increasing.
