In this paper, seeds of Ling are used as the test materials in the mill town of Wenchuan County in Sichuan Province and in the town of Shiyang of Dujiangyan city, 2 due to 3 randomized block experiment of time and nitrogen fertilizer is made. It researches on the effects of Nitrogen Application on the spring growth and development of part of Chuanxiong physiological characteristics and yield and quality indexes of the main. The results are as follows:1.In spring, application of nitrogen will have a role in promoting plant height> tiller number and longest length of root of Chuanxiong. Size of effect varies with the volume and application time of nitrogen. The overall trend is: with the increase of nitrogen rate, plant height, tiller number and longest root length increase. Late application of nitrogen could have an significant effect on increase of plant height .There is no significant difference nitrogen in the leaves in the tiller number maximum root length at different time of application of nitrogen.2.Application of nitrogen will have an impact on the accumulation of nitrogen absorption because of the impact on NR activity in spring. NR activity. Increased use of nitrogenous fertilizers can improve the relative rate of nitrogen and the distribution of the percentage of nitrogen in the leaves. But it reduces the rate of root nitrogen and nitrogen distribution in the percentage of stem. Impact on nitrogen rate of all organ is not very significant. However, the late application of nitrogenous fertilizer can increase allocation ratio of nitrogen in root and leaf. Early application of nitrogenous fertilizer can increase the distribution rate of nitrogen in the roots. Early application of nitrogen can improve soluble protein content in leaves significantly.4.Increased use of nitrogenous fertilizers can have an significant increasing in the accumulation of dry matter of leaf and root. And the dry weight of roots will increase and decrease afterwards with the improving of the nitrogen level. Under the appropriate levels of nitrogenous fertilizer, the weight of roots and percentage of whole-plant is highest. During the period of application of nitrogenous fertilizer, the dry weight of leaves is not affected significantly. Significantly. However, the early application of nitrogen can increase the weight of roots and root significantly.5.Application of nitrogen increased enormously the yield of L. chuanxiong and the additional range was 33.3% to 71.1%. T1F2 had the highest yield among all groups. T1 was better than T2 and T3. And Fl was also better than the others. Through application of nitrogen in spring the tubers became larger and the additional range was 28.8% to 76.3%. T1F1 and T3F1, each tuber weight of which reached 20.8g and 20.3g, had the greater tuber weight among all groups. Fertilization on medium stage (T2) was worse than that on early stage(Tl) or advanced stage(T3). Fl was better than the other levels of fertilization content.6.Application of nitrogen in spring raised obviously the relative content and accumulation content of the total ferulic acid and total alkaloid so that its medicinal value was improved. Meanwhile, application of nitrogen could boost the content of Zn and Cd. The content of As increased when the use of fertilization content improved and, however, suitable fertilization period and content decreased its content, too. Tl and Fl were benefit to reduction of the content of Hg. nitrogenous fertilizer control was no use for the change of content of Cu.
