In this paper, experiments were carried out in the Pengzhou Ge Xian Town East Tiger Village and taked Chuanxiong Ling from small hole in Pengzhou as tested materials. Through the experiments, we studied effects of fertilizer amount and planting density on the growth of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort, dry matter accumulation, physiological and biochemical indexes, NPK accumulation, yield and quality. The results of the experiments showed that:1. There is a certain influence of formula fertilization and planting density on the the growth state of the indicators of Ligusticum chuanxiong, such as the height of plant, number of stems per plant, transmittance in the field. In the early of the growth of Ligusticum chuanxiong, the agronomic performance such as the height of plant ant the number of stem in the medium fertilizer level is better than other levels. But the high fertilizer level is better than others in the later stage of growth. The entire growth period, plant height and number of stems increased and then decreased with the increase of planting density. Increase in fertilizer and increase the planting density reduced to varying degrees field transmittance rate of Ligusticum chuanxiong.2. Dry matter accumulation increased and then decreased with increasing amount of fertilizer in the first year of the growth period of Ligusticum chuanxiong, but it increased with increasing amount of fertilizer in the second year, especially in the period of rhizome enlargement and post-harvest. Increase of fertilizer can increase the dry matter accumulation of leaves and roots, but it can also reduce the root to shoot ratio. It is that increase of fertlizer will restrain the allocation of photosynthates to roots to a certain extent. So appropriate increased in planting density can promote the allocation of photosynthetic products to roots.3. By increasing the amount of fertilizer formula, the content of chlorophyll and the rate of photosynthetic and transaminas’activity and the content of soluble protein will improve. So it laid a good physiological basis for the production and quality. As planting density increases, the physiological activity index was significantly lower.4. Effects of fertilizer and planting density on N, P, K accumulation is the same in basically in the periods of pour seedling and harvest. N, P, K accumulation increased with the increase in the amount of fertilizer formula, while it is decreased after increasing with the increase of planting density. It will promote N, P and K allocated to the stems and leaves when Adding fertilizer formula. And close planting is conducive to N, P and K allocated to the roots. The effects of fertilizer and planting density on nitrogen nutrition is greater than the effects on phosphorus and potassium nutrition.5. There is a significant effect of formula fertilizer usage and planting density on the yield of Ligusticum chuanxiong. Yield per hectare is increased with the addition of formula fertilizer usage and planting density. So, yield under the condition of A3B4is the highest in all the12conditions. But the yield per plant reduced as planting density increases, so it is the highest while under the high fertlizer and low-density conditions. Net income of high-fertlizer and high-density is the hightest.6. The content of total alkaloid of Ligusticum chuanxiong was decreased after increasing with the increase of the amount of fertilizer. There is little effect of the density on the content of total alkaloid. The content of total alkaloid under the combinations of fertlizer and density while in a medium and low degree is higher than others in the12combinations, while the yield of high-fertlizer and high-density is the highest.7. The content of total ferulic acid of Ligusticum chuanxiong decreased with the increase in the amount of fertilizer formula. The effect of planting density on the content of ferulic acid is different in different amount of fertilizer. The content of total ferulic acid under the low-fertlizer and low-density conditions is the highest in the12treatments, but the yield of ferulic acid under the high-fertlizer and high-density conditions is the highest.8. Considerations of yield, efficiency, rhizome weight per plant, the content and yield of alkaloids and ferulic, this experiment showed that the optimal combination of density and fertilizer for Ligusticum chuanxiong is the high-fat, higher density processing.
