In order to study the effects of different tillage forms on the growth and development of naked oats and soil characteristics in Alpine areas in Northwest Hebei, from May to September in 2009 in Hebei Agricultural University experimental station in Zhangbei, testing soil is the meadow chestnut soil, with a naked oats cultivar Bayou NO.1.The results show that:1. Soil bulk density in different tillage before seeding 0-15cm the three Treatment was not significant,15-20cm no-till was significantly higher than traditional tillage; at harvesting stage,0-5cm no-till higher than minimum tillage and traditional tillage with significant differences,respectively,1.16 g/cm3,0.99 g/cm3 and 0.94g/cm3,5-10cm and 15-20cm of soil were not significantly different between the three,10-15cm of soil no-till and minimum tillage was significantly higher than traditional tillage were 1.21 g/cm3,1.26 g/cm3,1.02 g/cm3. Three different tillage before planting Soil bulk density were not changed much over,no-till and traditional tillage decreased slightly, minimum tillage increased slightly.2. The soil rigidity at pre seeding of no-till were significantly higher than minimum tillage and traditional tillage at 5cm,10cm,15cm soil layer,20cm layer three treatment with no significantly difference;harvest stage 5cm layer of no-till were 12.00 kg/cm2 significantly higher than minimum tillage was 8.00 kg/cm2,10cm,15cm,20cm soil layer no significant differences between the three treatment. Effect from the time point, the rigidity of soil with no-till at harvest stage lower than seeding stage; minimum tillage and traditional tillage at 5cm,10cm,15cm layer showed clear upward trend,20cm layer decreased. View from space effect,no-till before sowing and harvest stage more hardness in 5cm,10cm,along with the increasing of soil depth,15cm decrease and 20cm continue to rise slightly, minimum tillage and traditional tillage of the soil rigidity at before sowing and harvest stage, increasing along with the soil depth.3. Soil moisture in 0-20cm were no significantly differents with three treatment.4. The main growth period in oat under different tillage 0-20cm soil, the average soil respiration were highest in jointing stage, with the best biological activity. jointing stage no-till was significantly lower than traditional tillage,respectively,0.65 mg·kg-1·h-1 and 1.01mg·kg-1·h-1;10-20cm layer of soil respiration no-till with the highest in tillering stage, was 0.57 mg·kg-1·h-1,significantly higher than minimum tillage and traditional tillage; jointing stage and the harvest stage the three difference treatment is not significant.5. Soil microbial biomass carbon were no significantly differents with three treatment. Soil active microbial biomass in 0-10cm soil traditional tillage is the highest;10-20cm of soil minimum tillage highest in tillering stage, the jointing stage and harvesting stage hightest is still traditional tillage.6. Dry weight and distribution of root was measured within the experiment, the result showed that dry weight of root lowest was no-till,but it just significantly differents in jointing stage. The different treantment were the same in distribution of root.7. The plant height,Leaf Area Index of naked oats were almost the highest under the treatment of the traditional tillage, followed by minimum tillage and No-till,and the total stems were no significantly differents with three treatment, the traditional tillage taked highest out put followed by minimum tillage and No-till.8. No-tillage has no work of tillage and saves manpower and material resources. The bulk density and rigidity of soil increases under the No-till,furthermore,it can affect the quality of seeding, seedling and the growth and development of crops,so the yield of naked oats decreases significantly. Minimum tillage reduces the tillage work than the traditional tillage, ecological efficiency and yield is much better. So the experiment reached a conclusion that minimum tillage is favorably feasible on the Meadow chestnut soil land in Northwest Hebei.
