Qinghai is located in Qinghai-tebitan plateau,which is the sourceland of Changjiang, Huanghe and Lancangjiang and which is famous for'the origin of three rivers'and'China water tower'. Changjiang and Huanghe can produce more than 50 billion cubic meters water on average.The amount of water of Changjiang ,Huanghe and Lancangjiang from Qinghai is 49.2%, 25% and 15%. Because it is high ,cold dry on the plateau, it is a serious task to build and green ecological construction.Especially Qinghai eastern arid and semiarid areas lie in 400mm and it is unevenlyn distributed and has serious water loss and soil erosion. Here the ecological environment is quite weak, nature diasters are active, the rate of survival of planting trees is lower. Therefore in this area ,it is very important to develop and practise a completed technical and supporting facilities to resist drought and plant trees which is based on saving water and catching water.It is also necessary to raise the rate of survival of planting trees and keeping rate in such a place by using each forestry. Project. It is significant for us to make a big step of planting trees and greening mountians, drease water loss and soil erosion, improve ecological environment, help people to get rid of poverty and become better off.Facing the bad climate in Qinghai, the arid and semiarid areas about 800 mu in the counties of Huzhu and Pingan are chosen to be experimented in combat drought, forestation and planting trees by using scientifical means, at the same time, according to the diffferent seeds to choose right places to sow with some new meterials and technology for combat drought, forestation and planting trees, for example, affroestting techniques of forest in mountain arid land, containernursery and planting techniques, applied techniques for efficient green plants GGR, applied techniques for the absorbentwater and retainingagent, application on plantation with water-saving and drought resistance powder, application technology for drywater, application technology for soil moisture and conservation of vegetation covering, planting techniques of degradable plastic film mulching, techniques for most optimum distribution of drought resisting seeds. All these techniques must be united ,combined and supported together to develop potential productive forces the full, to improve the rate of survival of planting trees in arid and semiarid aeras in Qinghai.They also supply powerful and scientific support for the project of reforesting formerly cultivated land,for the project sanbei shelter-forest and natural forest protection project so that we can study more than 13kinds of seeds of sea-buckthorn, Qinghai spruce etc.From all the sides we do as much as we can to form a comprehensive planting pattern to resist drought and plant trees,to raise the rate of survival of planting trees and keeping rate.Meanwhile in Huzhu county and Pingan county,we will build an 800 mu demonstration base to resist drought and plant trees and matching technology.
