In this paper, species diversity and soil physicochemical characteristics of five typical forest types (coniferous, broad, mixed coniferous and broad, broad mixed forest, shaw) as study object in Liaohe River Nature Reserve, various indicators for species diversity and soil physicochemical characteristics are analysised by correlation analysis, stepwise regression, grey correlation method, and explore the relationship between species diversity and soil physicochemical characteristics, the research point provides the scientific basis for the protection and the management of the local species diversity. The main conclusions of this paper are:(1)The bush levelαspecies diversity in all communities are less than the herb layer, particularly the difference of the conifer and broadleaf mixed forest community is most remarkable. The herb layer average richness index is 13, while the shrub layer is 2.6; the change trends of species diversity index and evenness index are similar. The D value and H value of the mixed coniferous and broad herb layer diversity index is the largest, the shaw are the smallest; the D value and H value of the broad mixed forest shrub layer diversity index is the largest, the broad are the smallest; the average Jsi value and Jsw value of the herb layer evenness index is 0.8708,0.9250; the variation degree is small, the Jsi value and Jsw value of the shaw forest shrub layer evenness index is the largest.(2)The herbβdiversity values of the different forest communities is small, it indicat that the difference of the herb layer species composition of various forest communities is small.βdiversity among the other communities are less than 0.4, in addition to coniferous and broad community, broad and mixed coniferous and broad are 0.6. The difference of the shrubβdiversity is bigger than the herb, especially, the coefficient variation is bigger than 0.6 among the shaw community and other, secondly, the coefficient variation is bigger than 0.5 among coniferous and broad, broad mixed forest, while other communities areless than 0.4.(3)The soil bulk of different forest community increase with the soil depth, the soil various porosity of different forest community decrease with the soil depth. In the 0-10 cm, 10-20 cm, >20 cm soil layer, the soil physical indexs of the largest community are mixed coniferous and broad, mixed coniferous and broad, broad, the soil physical indexs of the smallest community are shaw, shaw, coniferous, from the variation level, they belong to the low sensitive indexs. The soil nutrient of more forest community decrease with the soil depth, in the 0-10 cm, 10-20 cm, >20 cm soil layer, the soil nutrient indexs of the largest community are coniferous, the soil nutrient indexs of the smallest community are shaw, broad mixed forest, mixed coniferous and broad.(4)The main soil factors influent each index of the vegetation diversity are the soil field capacity, soil capillary capacity, soil saturated capacity, total P by stepwise regression method. The main soil factors influent each index of the species diversity are the soil bulk, soil total porosity, field capacity, soil capillary capacity by grey correlation analysis method. Generally speaking, there are closely related to the soil water and species diversity.
