Public welfare forest possesses a variety of ecological benefits such as water conservation,soil-fixation and fertility preservation, carbon sink, biodiversity protection. The object of this study selected 92 typical plots from public welfare forest in Ruian city is analyzed by using the canonical correspondence analysis,TWINSPAN classification and combined with the community species diversity index and dominance index on community structure research. This paper explores the relationship between the plant spatial distribution pattern and the topographic factors and the relationships among major dominant species, which provide theoretical basis for the classified management of public welfare forest in Zhejiang province, and provide guidance to the configuration of tree species, moderate intervention measures. The main results are as follows:CCA was used to sort the 114 dominant species in 92 plots.Result shows that the effect of the 4 topographic factors on the distribution of plants is not the same.Meanwhile, elevation is the dominant factor, followed by slope, slope position and aspect.Using the TWINSPAN classification,92 plots were classified as 13 clusters which can generally represent the types of public welfare forest communities in Ruian city, respectively: Pinus taiwanensis coniferous forest ? Cryptomeria fortunei-Lithocarpus glaber mixed broadleaf-conifer forest?Cryptomeria fortunei-Pinus taiwanensis coniferous forest?Cryptomeria fortunei coniferous forest?Phyllostachys heterocycla cv.Pubescens forest?Cunninghamia lanceolata-Pinus massoniana-Phyllostachys heterocycla cv.Pubescens Coniferous mixed forest ? Cunninghamia lanceolata-Pinus massoniana coniferous forest ? Cunninghamia lanceolata-Pinus massoniana-Eurya japonica mixed broadleaf-conifer forest ? Vernicia montana-Pinus elliottii mixed broadleaf-conifer forest ? Schima superba-Cunninghamia lanceolata mixed broadleaf-conifer forest?Pinus massoniana-Pinus massoniana-Liquidambar formosana mixed broadleaf-conifer forest ? Pinus massoniana-Schima superba mixed broadleaf-conifer forest?Ulmus pumila-Cinnamomum camphora broad-leaved forest. In tree layer, shrub layer and herb layer, species richness index(S),species diversity Simpson index(D),Shannon-Wiener index(H),Pielou index(JH)and 13 clusters were analyzed. It turned out that the community of the study area is in the early stage of forest succession, according to the theory of forest community succession. At the same time,it was found that the species diversity of the communities was relatively high, the dominanc of dominant species is generally small, and because of different site factors, each cluster has different rules of species diversity. The main dominant species of tree layer were analyzed.Comprehensive comparison of chi square test and calculation of AC and PC index, showed that the connection between dominant species was not significant, the dominance of the tree layer to the sunlight leads to the loose distribution of the species in the forest, and the number of the shrub layer is not significantly larger than the other two layers. The positive associate species-pairs: tree layer > shrub layer > herb layer, which shows the community is not stable, which is consistent with the results of species diversity in the previous paper.Through canonical correspondence analysis,TWINSPAN classification, species diversity index, interspecific association index to explore the relationship between the plant and the environment and the relationship between plant and plant in the community of public welfare forest in Ruian city, whick provide classification reference, reasonable species configuration and guidance for appropriate intervention measures for the public welfare forest classification management and rectification project. Finally,it plays the role of regulating the interspecific relationship and inducing the regeneration of vegetation succession.
