| Trough analyzing the feed characteristics and nutrient requirement model of dairy cow, a computer program about cost control using in the feed formulation of dairy cows had been successfully developed adopting a two-step linear programming method. Through changing the data processing of simplex method, the program improved the pertinence of calculations in feed formula especially for the ruminants.The dairy feed formulation system need three functions: complete formula feed (conclude concentrate supplement) module, existing formula calculation module and premix feed module. According to the order of formula calculation, the web page of modules were designed in the calculation order as follows: the module of complete formula feed (concentrate supplement feed) was divided into five parts, the determination of nutrition standard, choice of fodder, adjustment of chosen fodder, adjustment of nutrient requirement and limit of fodder; the module of existing formula calculation was divided into four parts, the determination of nutrition standard, choice of fodder, adjustment of chosen fodder and calculation; the module of premix was divided into setting of requirement and choice of premix fodder.The system used Visual Studio 2005 as a tool of design background program in C# language, and Dreamweaver 8 to design foreground program. Data base was designed with Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and according to use Browser/Server combination this system achieves the three-tier structure.The paper mainly presents a description of the development of a feed formula optimization decision system and delimits the nutrient system of the feed formula system, discussed the key technique involved in the development, analysisying and designing of the database model and algorithm model, completed basic functional requirements of the dairy cow feed formula optimization decision system. The formulation optimization decision system also included the modules of complete formula feed and premix.
