Early life is the key period of growth and development, mammalian nutritional condiction has close connection with gastrointestinal development. This study was conducted to rsearch effect of the early energy and protein restricted feeding on gastrointestinal morphology, digestive enzyme activities, redox status of plasma and gastrointestinal tract, immunologic function and regulatory factors of weaned lambs at the age of 28-day. The experimental animals were divided to four groups according to random blocks design, receiving 4 different milk replacer diets: the normal control group with standard diet, 40% energy deficient group (LN), 40% protein deficient group (LP) and both 40% protein and 40% energy deficient group (LPN). Diets were administered for 6 weeks and later the 4-group lambs were fed the unified diet. The blood samples were collected on 21 d,41 d and 111 d. The lambs were slaughtered on 42 d and 112 d. Samples were collected and analyzed. This experimental results showed conclutions below:1 The results indicated that gastrointestinal morphology and organ development of weaned lambs at the age of 28-day were damaged by undergoing six weeks energy restriction, protein restriction or energy and protein restriction. Compared with control group, the influnce of animal in restricted groups was not absolutely recoverable after removing nutrition restriction within trial observation period.2 The cellulose enzyme activity of rumen content, pancreatic enzyme activity of jejunum, ileum and duodenum of weaned lambs at the age of 28-day were decreased significantly by undergoing six weeks energy restriction, protein restriction or energy and protein restriction. The results decreased the nutrients digestive and absorptive function.Compared with control group, the influnce of pancreatic enzyme activity of jejunum in restricted groups was not absolutely recoverable after removing nutrition restriction within trial observation period.3 These results indicated that the oxidant status of blood, ruminal epithelium and jejuna epithelium of 28-day weaned lambs were damaged by undergoing six weeks energy restriction, protein restriction or energy and protein restriction, and the oxidant status of animal in restricted groups was not absolutely recoverable after removing nutrition restriction compared to control within trial observation period.4 The results indicated that body and gastrointestinal immunologic function of weaned lambs at the age of 28-day were decreased by undergoing six weeks energy restriction, protein restriction or energy and protein restriction. The influnce of immune function in both enegy and protein restricted group was far more than the single nutrient restriction.5 These results indicated that the growth and development, the regulation and transcription of tissue cells growth and proliferation of 28-day weaned lambs were inhibited by undergoing six weeks energy restriction, protein restriction or energy and protein restriction.Compared with control group, the inhibition in restricted groups was not absolutely recoverable after removing nutrition restriction within trial observation period.
