Psathyrostachys huashanica Keng. (2n = 2x = 14, NsNs) is an endemic species in China which has been listed as an endangered and imperatively protected wild species. It is characterized by early maturity, resistance to drought, salinity, wheat take-all fungus and stripe rust, which is the important genetic resource in wheat.improvement. In this paper, 20 materials which were derived from Triticum-Psathyrostachys descendants were used to reveal their drought resistance in germination and the seedling stage through germination of PEG stress, control water potted seedling test, and the average value of membership function analysis. Extraneous genetic resources of B19 was tested using genomic in situ hybridization (GISH) technique. This study, which provid theoretical and practical basis to the wheat improvement. The main results are as follows:1. Identification of drought resistance in Triticum-Psathyrostachys derive descendant seeds germination: The results show: B8, B12, B4, B19 are the strong drought-resistant materials ; B14, B10, B28, B1, B9, A30, B20, B32, B23, B6, B26, B21, B2, B16, B18, A31 are the medium drought resistant materials; B14, B10 were beyond the medium drought resistance. All the materials have better drought resistance in the germination stage than their parent triticum aestivum (PT), except B18 and A31.2. Identification of drought resistance in Triticum-Psathyrostachys derive descendant seedling stage: The results show that A31, B19, A30, B4, B9, B16 are the strong drought-resistant materials; B32, B10 are the medium on combat drought materials; the others are not combat drought materials.3. Synthetical identification of drought resistance of 20 Triticum-Psathyrostachys derive descendant in germination and seedling stage: The results show: from germination to seedling growth. B19, B4, A30 are strong drought-resistant materials; the next level are B9, A31, B10, B32, B16, B8, B26, B1, B20; the last are B23, B21, B28, B14, B18, B12, B6, B2. The order of their drought resistance is: B19, B4, A30> B9, A31, B10> B32, B16, B8, B26, B1, B20> B23, B21, B28, B14, B18, B12, B6, B2.4. Detection of exogenous hereditary property of Triticum-Psathyrostachys derive descendant: The material(B19) was detected by GISH and cytological identification. The results show: B19 contained 2 Psathyrostachys extraneous source signal, and it is a wheat - Psathyrostachys disomic additional line.
