The aims of this experiment were firstly to estimate the alkaloids component of Oxytropis glacialis.Secondly efficacy of the preventative treatment"Fengcaoling"was evaluated in the field.Overall the results of this experiment provided new information about the management of Oxytropis glacialis in Tibet,and stategies for prevention of toxicity.1 Chemical compositionThe chemical components of Oxytropis glacialis were determined using standard methods for plant analyses.The preliminary test results indicated that Oxytropis glacialis contained alkaloid,amine acid,protein,organic acids,phenols and tannin,polysaccharide,glycoside,saponin,sterides,coumarin,Terpenes,and Anthraquinones,but no essential oil,flavone,cyanogenetic glycoside,or aliphatic nitro compound.2 Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)Oxytropis glacialis (5000 g) was extracted by industrial alcohol through hot reflux and total extract (312.0 g) was obtained after recovering the solvent.It was then dissolved by 1 N HCl,and then filtered after centrifugation.The solution was extracted by chloroform to remove impurity and by chloroform,ethyl acetate and n-butanol successfully after adjusting pH to ca. 10.chloroform part(0.5 g),ethyl acetate part(5.4 g)and n-butanol part(52.0 g)were obtained,respectively.All above parts were detected by TLC.The TLC results showed that there were 9 alkaloids in the chloroform phase,11 alkaloids in ethyl acetate and 4 alkaloids in the butanol phase at least.By comparison to a standard sample of swainsonine,the preliminary results showed that all of the above extracts contained this compound.3 The nutritional ingredientThe nutritional ingredient of Oxytropis glacialis was detected by conventional analysis and amino acid detection,results showed dry matte(r94.10%),crude protein(9.10%),crude fat(1.27%),crude fibre(24.81%),crude ash(37.6%),nitrogen-free extract(21.32%),calcium(1.58%),phosphoru(s0.12%),trace element content included Se(0.0775μg/100g),iron(901.3μg/100g),zinc(18.50μg/100g),magnesium(3150μg/100g),copper(12.50μg/100g),manganese(95.08μg/100g),in addition 17 different AA(8.409 g/100g) were found.It showed Oxytropis glacialis has abundant nutritional ingredient,it is a kind of latent grazing resource.4 The prevention trialThe 1200 goats in Gaize Ali were fed 2 boluses of"Fengcaoling"per one at the first time and fed 1 supplementary bolus after 1.5 months.Compared with the none fed"Fengcaoling"group,the results showed that the"Fengcaoling"can significantly reduce the incidence of death in goats for 4 months after fed the medicine,the Toxic rate decrease 39.25%,the Death rate of Poisioning decrease 94%.Our research shows that feeding"Fengcaoling"is a effectual measure to prevent intoxation of Oxytropis glacialis in goat at present.
