In this paper, Xiaokelan Forest Region of Altai Mountain in Xinjiang is selected as the research region. Based on GIS technique,1:50000 forest map and relief map of the research region are used to building forest resources spatial database, making landscape classification map. Applying the principles and methods of landscape ecology, main vegetation'types and characters and landscape patterns of research region in current situation are analyzed. After analyzing related and historical data adequately,5 different simulation scenarios are established by the method of landscape scenario design, which represented 5 different managerial approaches. On the basis of these, Forest landscape dynamic of Xiaokelan forest region are simulated using VDDT and TELSA. The main conclusions are demonstrated as follows:1. Among the all landscape types, desert and semi-desert, grassland and forest land are the three main components of the Xiaokelan forest region. desert and semi-desert is the first landscape type, which taken account for 34.62% of the total area., and was dominant to control landscape pattern, function and dynamic processes. Other landscape types scattered across in this area.2. The four main forest landscape types are Larix sibirica forest, Picea obovata forest, Betula pendula forest and Populus tremula forest. Especially forest land which was mainly composed of Larix sibirica occupies absoluteness predominance, accounting for 57.59 percent of the total forest land area.3. Studying on stand structure and nature regeneration indicated that the Close-mature, Mature and Over-mature forest accounted for a large proportion, topping above 80.8 percent, young forest and middle-aged forest's distribution area just occupy 19.2% only. Forest resources'age structure is not entirely reasonable. Natural regeneration is not good, forest reserve resources are scarce.4. Based on a detailed analysis of landscape pattern status and vegetation characters, using VDDT to generate TPD and PVT, and import them to TELSA for landscape dynamic simulation, then analyze the dynamic change trend of the Scenarios. Simulation results show that after simulated five different management plan scenarios, the area of unutilized land and unavailability land didn't changed dramatically. Mature and Over-mature forest holds very large proportion in different management plan Scenarios, this indicates that forest landscape dynamic is a long-term process, landscape structure of the study area will not have a big change in the short term.5. Major driving factors of landscape change have been collected and analyzed after simulating management plan scenarios; finally, rank the items according to their influence, from most to least significant, sorting results showed that grazing accounted for 36.5 percent weighting, is the largest weight of the factors. In these seven management measures, close hillsides to facilitate afforestation has the best comprehensive benefits, with a weight value of 28.91%, it's the most efficient method to ameliorate landscape construction.
